Right brake lamp malfunction

The other day the controll message came up: " Right brake lamp malfunction". All my brake lights work fine, is there a way I can shut off that message myself? If I have to send it to the dealer should I remove the PROcede? Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Best,
YB

The dealer replaced the entire housing where the bulbs are located due to the same reoccuring issue...

I had my buddy look, I dont think he's that meticulous to see if two bulbs are lit..I'll check myself. I hope it doesn't need a trip to the dealer, rather fix this myself.

Much Obliged,
YB

I took a closer look at mine, one bulb was not making a connection. I pushed lightly and it's all good.

Best,
YB

I had this happen a few times go in the trunk and make sure your bulbs aren't lose. Pull them out and put them back in and that should take care of it.

Funny how BMW still makes their car where this happens. Happened all the time with my E36 M3.

I've had the same thing for about 2 months now. I'm going to try and go in through the trunk and check the bulbs...

its the bulb, bad connection in the bulb. I switch the bulb and the housing on the left and the right side, mix and matched them. it turns out which ever side the bulb is in, the message will be for that side. Went to the dealership, they replace the bulb under warrenty. In and out of there in like 10 mins. No problems since then.

I got that message 2x times now. The first time they just swapped out a bulb and the message went away. Then just last week it happened again. They initially swapped the bulb out again and the message went away, but 1 mile down the road it started complaining about the left side, so I flipped a beotch and went right back. They ended up replacing the plastic board that all the lights plug into. It's kind of like a big plastic circuit board with big metal leads going to each bulb (kinda cheap looking). Anyway it's all good now... until next time!
