M3/M4 MPerformance exhaust now has ADR compliance

Just letting you all know that the MPerformance exhaust systems are now ADR compliant which will allay some of the worries some people have with fitting this exhaust.

Dealer called me last week and informed me. Good to see. Mine lands in early April, having some M cosmetics and the exhaust fitted prior to delivery.

First post: Picked up my black M4 in December and have been interested in the MPE since.

Does the price include installation?
Does it affect the warranty?

Thanks!

Does the price include installation? No ~$400
Does it affect the warranty? No - ADR compliant factory fitted part. Verified this with the dealer.

Thanks!

No Problem!

Who is selling + installing this exhaust in Brisbane?
Do you have to dyno tune the ECU or is it just a swap?

Thanks in advance

Your local BMW dealer will sell this to you. It is just an exhaust swap, no ECU programming required.

That is very unusual given its a BMW product. Have you tried other dealers in Brisbane?

Good seeing you here Andrew. It's been a while.

This is why BMW dealers fail, they do not know their own product. Ask another dealer or contact BMW Australia and ask for assistance. Alternatively, i can send you one up if you require but the freight would be an additional cost which you wouldn't have to pay locally.

All good guys, I found out that we have more than 2 BMW dealers in Brisbane after all
A bit of driving to get to the others on Sunshine Coast but hey they are willing to sell me the system for $8k which includes the carbon tips

Fitting is a bit steep at $200.00 an hour but I guess they have to make $$ somewhere Was quoted 2 hours to install it in
I hope this will be worth the 8.4k Im about to spend

Wow 8k that is just insane. I cannot justify that especially when the motivation would be to improve the not so great sound the car comes with as standard. It's just principle and a complete stuff up from BMW imo.

Andrew is it possible to buy just the titanium M tips (non cf) and fit these to standard muffler. Cost?

Yeah that is a little hefty - I had the Porsche Sports Exhaust retrofitted to my 911 (2010) and it was "only" $5500 fitted - that was in 2014.

Curious to know - the Porsche had an on\off switch that allowed you to keep the exhaust in a "quiet" mode - pressing the PSE button or selecting sport\sport+ enabled the exhaust..... is there a similar thing on the M4\M3 with the BMW (MPE) exhaust?

Actually PSE is a rip off compared to all the other "sports exhaust" options out there. It's just a slightly differently designed exhaust with a flap designed to make Porsche money! Porsche owners are just suckers. I have owned as many Porsches as I have BMWs so I'm the biggest sucker of them all!

As for the M performance exhaust, it's made of titanium hence the high price. People say I'm crazy paying high $60s for a Renault RS275 Trophy-R, and this is where I point them to the cost of titanium Akrapovic exhaust, Ohlins coilovers, Recaro one piece bucket etc that comes standard with the car.

Depends on what you are expecting! I heard one at the dealership I bought my car from, and it sounded great. Not for me though as I'm not that interested in a loud daily driver. For me I rather remove the active sound and make the car more natural sounding.
