Are you an SCCA member? Thats the first step. They generally set them up. SOLO 2 is what you're probably gonna want to get into. Its the safest for the car. I used to do SOLO 2 Street Prepared (class) with my Neon back in the late 90's.

I'm new to the Seattle area and have found http://www.where2race.com/events helpful. Lots of autocross in the area. Also checkout http://www.bmwpugetsound.com/events/...-porsche-club/ They have event at an airstrip in Bremerton.

Motorsportreg.com seems to be a good aggregator of autoX/hpde events: http://www.motorsportreg.com/calendar/

It's not exhaustive (there are events that don't show up), but in my area it does a good job.
