Need fellow e92'ers help on sideview mirrors

Hi folks.

Do any of you know if your left sideview mirror flips up/down faster than the right sideview mirror when you press the button for storing the sideview mirrors? I.e. left side has finished moving, right side takes an extra 1 or 2 secs to finish, meaning they aren't synchronized.

I got into an accident not long ago, damaging my door and sideview mirror. Sent to dealership for replacement of both parts. Now that its back, I seem to notice this issue, when previously I did not realize this was the case. Not sure if I'm just thinking too much seeing as how its a new door and sideview mirror. The repair guy at the dealer says its normal. Question is, is it really?

Thanks.

Really? Have you had it replaced before or anything of that sort?

I am almost 100% they used to be in sync and there was no delay at all. I've had other e92 owners tell me their sideview mirrors are in sync as well.

My passenger side is a couple seconds faster than the drivers side... not to say this is normal though since the folding function on my drivers side mirror doesn't work every so often

I never paid much attention to this until now. 2 seconds is a long time to lag behind the other mirror considering they fold in/out in less than 4 seconds.

Mine fold in/out completely in less than 4 seconds. My driver side is a fraction of a second slower than the passenger side.

If one miror is a second slower that seems normal. Two seconds or more slower sounds like a bad motor - or differnt motor speed since its a replacement. Two seconds is a long time if you clock it with a stopwatch.

I was just at a dealer and for no reason I wanted to see if the new car they had was in synch.....so I pushed the button..... One was 2-3 secs slower than the other..... So, I say your car is just fine.

Mine were in sync at first, but no more I thought I broke them because I played with them excessively when I first got the car.

Some are in sync and others are not. Mine are slightly off, but why do you care? They retract and back out which is all that matters.

Mine are fast, but aren't synced up either. It's been that way since day 1, and I've had no problems with it when I press the button. I'd say it's fine.

Did you measure that 2 - 3 seconds with a stopwatch or just guess? A 3 second lag on a less than 4 second fold out process means one side was twice as slow as the other. Guessed times are not going to help this guy if he goes to use them for comparison.

Its like the 0-60 threads that have guys using a butt dyno claiming they get 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Stating actual times measured by ones internal clock gives false impressions. Just want to put it in perspective as many in this thread are giving actual times and the OP may be using them to compare to his vehicle.

To me, a slight lag is normal. But twice as slow means the replacement motor the OP got must be a different speed than his original motors. It works so I wouldn't complain about it.

My folding mirrors are in sync. I use it very often, after I park my car in the garage.

Definitely not in sync. Never noticed it until this morning (and after seeing this thread). Not much different, maybe a second.

Mine's only 3 weeks old and the driver's mirror starts out at the same time as the passenger but always finished last in either direction.

Irony of course is that I have a right hand drive so it is the reverse of yours

so i heard from a friend that over time gunk will build up from the rain, etc.. so they will not be in sync no more. that makes sense.
