Aftermarket Shocks/Struts with H&R Sport Springs

Could anyone suggest a brand of Shocks/Struts to use with the H&R Sport Springs on an E90 335 w/sport package? I had the springs installed and quickly noticed that the car bounces a little bit. I am hoping a new set of shocks/struts will fix this without going to a coilover kit. Has anyone been through this?

The only shocks that will fit the H&R sport springs right now are the Koni Yellows/Sports.

How is the handling/ride quality of the Koni/H&R setup vs. the stock E92 sport suspension?

I can only speak for the stock sport suspension and the H&R's. It looks good but at higher speeds you really start feeling the bounce. I'm sure they will wear the stock shocks/struts out early as well.

It really does look so much better at that height. Have you scraped on any speed bumps or steep driveways after the drop?

H&R sports combined with Koni yellows will give you the perfect ride.

I had that setup for a while and was extremely happy with it. I recently swapped out my sports for race springs and the shocks still match up perfectly.

Bilstein Sprint B8 is a exellent damper for H&R. Bilstein is using H&R springs in their B12 kit for e9x series

I only scraped one speed bump right after I had them installed. I wasn't in the mindset that the car was lowered but it hasn't happened since.

Yes, but to match and tame the H&Rs spring rates, they have to be set pretty stiff and thats when they get pretty harsh. You dont get good handling with H&Rs and leaving the Konis 's at the factory soft setting.

In my opinion, the factory soft matches up perfectly. It is true that the stiffer settings will give for better handling, but that's a well known fact. You have to sacrifice some stiffness for ride quality.

Currently, i'm running them at their factory setting with h&r race....the ride isn't bumpy or harsh and it handles great.

So do you guys like the H&R springs? I was thinking of getting them...

when you guys say "bouncey" how is that different than the standard sport springs? i guess i don't get what you guys mean by "bouncey." is that more like a regular car say a camery or accord?

If you're going to get aftermarket springs, I suggest that you get shocks as well. The H&R sport springs are, obviously, more aggressive than the stock springs thus they will wear our your stock shocks much quicker (especially on non-sport package shocks). The H&R springs' compression rate will be too much for stock shocks so your ride will be bouncy. Imagine one of those spring door stoppers. If the spring is too aggressive (springy), when you open the door it will bounce back rather then stopping the car. The same concept applies to the car.

You should get the Eibach Pro-kit springs with Koni FSD shocks (possibly the best shocks out there right now). It's less harsh than the H&R sport with Koni Yellow but is still a little more stiff than the stock sport suspension. There really is no other way around it unfortunately.

As Kenny said, "bouncy" happens when you have mismatched springs/shocks. Make sure to upgrade your shocks as well. If you get the H&R springs, get the Koni yellow shocks.

If you go with the Eibachs, get the Koni FSD's. With that combo, your ride quality should actually improve over the sport suspension (less harsh).

I'm too lazy to search guys, sorry.

But, are the Koni Yellows damper adjustable and height adjustable? I don't remember for sure, but I thought that the Yellow's had that additional lowering perch.

Just wondering because I'm just wondering. I had a point to all this, but I kinda forgot :S lol

Carry on..

Only damper....comes from the factory at the softest setting.

Springs control the height...

With factory soft there is still significant body roll and bounce over uneven roads.
