Annoying FM radio station reset issue
About 1 in every 10 times I start my car the FM radio station resets to 87.7 MHZ, which is the lowest frequency on the dial. It has done this since the car was new almost 3 years ago.
The dealer has looked at it many times but have not been able to replicate it so are not willing to try to even try and fix it. Finally a week ago they said that this is a known issue and BMW supplied them with a software patch. Unfortunately it's no better after the patch. I once read on this forum about someone else having the same issue and I'm wondering how many people are experiencing this, and whether anyone has been able to have it fixed. |

I have had the same problem since my X3 was new. Mine is a 2013 and I've owned it for 26 months. At my last service, approximately 2k ago, I asked them to fix the problem and the dealer said they reprogramed the radio. The problem still exists and I'm scheduled for another visit next Friday. I also have an issue with the wipers jumping about 1-2 cm every 10 or so times i turn off the car. These little things really piss me off every time they occur. I owned 4 Audis over the past 13 years and never had an issues with the cars. In my two years of BMW ownership, I've been constantly annoyed. These little things really make me want to leave the brand.

Yes, I have a 2011 and the radio almost every time does this. Drives me nuts!!! I try not to listen to it as I almost always stream my songs over Bluetooth now.

The jumping of the wipers is common and normal.
The radio station issue - have you guys checked the profile that is assigned when this happens? Maybe it is a profile issue and not only isolated to the radio? I wonder if you deleted all your profiles and readded if that would help. |

It may still be a profile issue? Have you tried using the other key (eg other profile).

After picking up my X3 from extensive work steering rack, module, reprogramming.... I noticed this too, said something to SA and he wasnt sure why it would happpen. I usually only drive on weekends and have to change from the wifes station so perhaps never noticed before. But noticed when I was the only one who drove it for 3 straight days.
Definitely not a profile issue as we only use 1 of our keys. Thought it started happening as a result of the recent reprogram, as the moonroof changed last year from reprogram, but no clue. |
