Sorry if this has been covered but I have seen these things talked about but no details found yet...

Apparently my car has gone into production early (was due on 10th), dealer couldn't provide VIN number or anything although this doesn't seem uncommon.

I saw something noted on another thread about being able to guess your VIN number by finding a same model car vin and searching through to find yours.

My questions are a) what do you search when you have the vin? is it a website? b) what will it actually tell you? and c) is any F30 335d M Sport owner willing to send me their VIN or at least all apart from last few digits!?

It will tell you the full spec of the car and virtual exterior/interior pictures

Well after a rather unfruitful afternoon I have given up on this.

I found some examples of late 2014 335d XD M-Sport vin's online rather easily and was able to then spent a while going up the sequential number (last 7 digits) until it grinded to a halt for those made in Sept 14. But that's when the numbering seems to stop and so my plans have come unstuck.

I'll contact dealer next week for more info and try to learn to be patient.
