Unhappy 335i Misfire - Replaced spark plugs & coils and still misfiring .. I think

Hi Guys

My 335i misfired for about 30 mins the other day, after turning engine off and driving some more it randomly stopped and was fine for a few days.... so I took it to garage who ran diagnostics and said it was a variable misfire.

So he replaced all sparks and coils.

Today.... 1 day after work being done, it happened again.

Pretty sure its a misfire (Car shakes when accelerating, and exhaust sounds weird and louder)

I get yellow engine light (see photo)

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

Thanks
Tom

What plugs are u running and are they gapped properly. If that's fine check the cylinder or cylinders that are misfiring and swap the injectors around and see if problem follows

Thanks for reply,

All new plugs & coils... I took it to BMW/Audi/Merc specialist garage... surely they put them in correctly? Or is it a common thing?

BMWs are known for misfiring. The 2 you did are cheapest. Pull the plugs and see which ones they put in. You might have a leaking valve cover and it's going on your spark plugs causing them to foul out

They put 6 new plugs.. 6 new coils ... cost me around £500

How can I tell if its a leaking valve cover?

Cheers!

Also note it was fine for like 18 hours after repair... I had the coils & sparks done yesterday and ive been driving it all day today fine.. Even hammered it through all the gears to check it was fine and no issues.. and then it randomly started again this evening whilst driving conservatively ... Not sure if this rules anything out? I thought as soon as engine is under stress it would misfire?

Cheers
Tom

Quick update for anyone whos interested.

Took car in to garage today... Told me the code coming back was injector fault. So he reprogrammed the faulty injector and that sorted it. Not sure if this means its on its way out but it seems fine now

Sounds like they replaced your injector and didn't program it into the dme
