I agree, it's the PC gone mad brigade that are winning if he disappears from our screens (or goes to Channel 5 - the equivalent of that). Yes, he can be a prize tw*t, but if you take much of what he says literally I think you need to have a word with yourself.

What makes Top Gear so good is the chemistry/relationship between the three presenters. If you were to ask me which of them is the better presenter however i'd have to say it's James May by a country mile. His shows are first class.

Problem is.....the BBC need to be seen as an anti bully /petulant child pandering /shit stirring (H982 FLK) organisation, as they are largely funded with public money. JC might have taken it too far this time to reverse any kind of decision, and popularity alone is not enough, demonstrated when controversial but well liked Chris Moyles was shunted out of Radio 1.

I look forward to him joining Jason Plato on fifth gear

Chris Moyles was shunted because he was too old for that teeny bopper station though.

And Jason Plato doesn't seem to be on Fifth Gear any more, he wasn't on the first episode of the new series last week!

The BBC should represent the country. I think it's fair to say most people would rather have Top Gear on the BBC than not.

I don't think there is anything on Top Gear that hasn't been blown completely out of all proportion.

He was, but he was also demanding mega money apparently. Otherwise they would have moved him over to R2 or somewhere more suitable.

Shame Plato isn't on it anymore, he was such a bad passenger even when a top bloke like Tiff was driving!

More OT, why can't they just screen Top Gear without Clarkson till this is cleared up, May and Hammond can easily host just 1 or 2 episodes by themselves?

I would imagine it is a contractual thing.

The pre recorded parts of the show, challenges, car reviews etc. would have clarkson in them.

So at this time we (the public) don't know the full details but from reading different sources it seems there was some kind of altercation where whilst filming in Newcastle, Clarkson has allegedly punched/slapped/pushed a producer on the show because his food was late.

Are all these people signing this petition saying if you are rich, famous and 'funny' this is acceptable behaviour? If you were in your workplace and your boss came in and punched/slapped/pushed you because you hadn't got their coffee would you just laugh it off saying "oh that's Jezza being Jezza, it's ok!"?

Apparently he did hit him, he just tried to.

Did he do/say something worth being hit for though?

Even if he only TRIED to hit the guy how is this acceptable? Do people go round your office trying to punch each other?

It really depends, if for example someone called your mum a whore, then that person would deserve to get punched! Not in the eyes of the law of course, but in reality we all know it happens.

I may have 'watched' a bit of that then (whilst trying to sort out my work expenses) , thought it was an old one to be honest.
