Messages after unplugging battery - Opinions?

I recently started an amplifier install in my F30 and while doing this unplugged the negative terminal by mistake. My car had a freak out and told me chassis stabilization had an issue when i first started the car. Thankfully this went away

I now have 2 service reminders:

1) My brake fluid needs to be replaced and is overdue since 2001!

2) My rear brake pads need service.

I think #1 is a result of unplugging the battery but #2 seems legitimate.

I have than 10k miles (15,000Kms)! Is it possible that i already need my pads? I have 40,000km left on the front pads according to the computer.

10K miles is very short for pads - rears usually go before 50K miles, and fronts last longer (I have yet to replace fronts on my 335d at 92K miles. This is opposite the way it used to be, btw - fronts used to go first.)

I believe that the F3x pad wear inserts actually have two wires: one that is like the old "replace me now!" warning, and another that wears much earlier (5K miles? or so?) to give the computer the ability to estimate the wear rate. The first one is gone in your case, but the computer thinks it took no time at all, so it's estimate is a very short time. The situation (warning) should correct itself over time, as the "replace me now" wire remains intact.
