Are you sure it's coming from the turbos?

Any chance you can post a sound clip/youtube vid?

Yes I've always noticed this, more when the engine is cold though. It's all part of the sound characteristics of a diesel to me.

i think it is still too quiet to hear. car has done 10k miles. i appreciate the above suggestion of it being something other than a turbo. but like i say from owning a fair few cars with turboa in. it really does sound like the rapid sucking in of air type whir that turbos give off.

i suspect its coming from the turbo that the engine uses bottom end. and this noise is more present when virtually not moving. though im unsure why it would want more air if not accelerating hard.

if it doesnt sound normal ill whip her straight into bmw but im not worried for now

I can hear the turbo on my 330d at slow speeds. High pitched whistle as it spins up

The turbo on my old E90 320d was fairly loud and quite clearly audible with the window open. I haven't noticed it on the 335d, but with this cold weather I've not had the window open much!
