New member, Big Upgrade

Hi all,

Just joined here and this is my first post, well apart from the first mandatory post you have to make before creating a thread of your own.

Just placed an order for my first BMW and have gone with this spec:

http://mybmw.co.uk/l4i9c2z2

Basically, it's a Mineral Grey/Red Leather BMW 335d xDrive M Sport Touring with M Sport Plus Packaged added.

Driving wise, I have only ever owned one car previously, a 2003 Citroen C3 1.4HDi SX with a whopping 92bhp.

It has served me well over the years and its porridge-like gearstick and steering rack that is looser than a prossie's knickers have ensured than whenever I drove any other type of vehicle it was a doddle and felt like luxury in comparison.

I have briefly driven many other vehicles during that time including much more modern Focus', VW Caddy vans and several other awful hired cars on holiday. I have also done a few track days which involved Lamborghini Aventador's courtesy of Lamborghini up here.

In short, I think I'm probably in for a bit of a treat/shock with this long awaiting move away from my beloved little C3 and I am greatly looking forward to it arriving. I think build time is normally about 3 months, I'm still awaiting an ETA, so should hopefully be here by about June.

Anyway, just thought I would say hello to all the other members here and I look forward to gaining knowledge and reading more about all the other member's cars on here.

Welcome to a fellow Edinburger - you'll really enjoy the car, albeit you might want to budget for some ACS springs, which really transform the car...

Not going to be making any further changes to car, I'm getting it through a BMW staff leasing deal and so get to change the car for a new one every 18 months and if there is anything I felt I missed out on or didn't like about this one I will be able to add it to the next one.

Welcome to the forum. That wait is going to be tough! I sacrificed my colour choice and added a few extras to get a pre built model (the offer was too good to miss) - I waited 2 weeks and that was bad enough!

What body shape did you go for? Saloon or touring?

Lol read the other thread.

C3 to 330d bit of a jump.

Tbh a 320d to a 330d is a noticeable difference.

Touring, have a kid so need the boot space and flexibility.

I suspect my wife will keep it in Eco mode on the odd occasion she drives it but I will definitely be giving all the functions a go including launch control if I come across a quiet enough area.

LOL indeed.

Dealer introduction when I picked up my new 435i GC:

"This is the Comfort setting; you'll use that most of the time I suspect. And this is the Sport setting, which tightens everything up and you'll love it when you are having a spirited drive on the right kind of road".

"This is Eco mode. . . . . . just ignore that one!"

ha ha ha......

I like your analogy about the prostitutes knickers. Your gonna do just fine here pal.

Have you driven a 335d yet? I'm assuming you have had a test drive in some sort of F3x?

So preach to the congregation, tell us why you choose the F31 over all the cars out there.

And welcome by the way.

that's a new one on me, never realised they wore any,

Well with the number of new members getting F31's , I assume it's due to how hot and sexy they are... The tourers not the members

420d MSport GC came close, but aren't cheap enough yet.

Me, I chose the F31 over an F11 as I needed more practicality than my current F10 and didn't think the F11 was that nice on the eye (to me anyway).

I went for a 335d engine as I've had a number of diesels over the last few years and having driven a mates one, I knew I'd kick myself if I ordered anything less.

If I'd driven a 330d, I'm sure that would have been my order.....but I didn't

Welcome to the club Crustyloafer

I recognise the name from the Arcam forums.
I'm sure you set up one of my home cinema systems many moons ago.

Are you still in this line of business ?

Enjoy your new beast when it arrives.

Better get the best out of it now... It'll soon be 20 mph EVERYWHERE in Edinburgh

Launch control shall be most useful when passing through Wester Hailes, Niddrie, Pilton
