Ex Demos

Dealers are selling these and i'm thinking if i'm gonna get an e90 anytime soon, it'll be one of these.

I've always thought that demo cars get thrashed around as they get lent to customers to take home. What does everyone think?

My dealer came on the test drive with me, so I was a good boy, but not too good

He said to me that people try to proove they are race car drivers and flog the shit out of them, but that is probably rare, and luckily they do about 1000km at the factory before them ship them, so it did get a good start before getting to the dealer.

On this forum there seem to be schools of thought about run in procedure. Some say that a demo is the best because the engine is nice a loose and gives better performance than one which has been babied. Others say that may be true, but not in the long run.

How long do you keep your cars? If it is under 100,000 I would get an ex-demo for sure as you will save money.

Mine is a company car so they have to be new. You can twist an arm and go ex-demo, one exec here got an ex-demo Jaguar, but I wanted a very specific combination and so went for it. This is the biggest downfall of ex-demo in my book, your choice of colour and options are limited.

Hope this rambling on helps you think it over.

How right are you when you said the downside of buying a demo is that it's limited in color choices? There are lots of silver and only a couple black (black is what i wanted)....

I suppose i have little choice but to buy an ex demo when the time comes ... and hope for the best.

Thanks for the reply.

when i buy things for a lot of money, i just like to have them brand spankin' new. i was actually mad at my dealer because the car came to the dealership with 3 miles on it and when i picked it up, the odometer read 4 miles. 1 mile, although insignificant, could very well be harmful as well...or maybe i'm just a freak.
