I got $5 k off mine (pre tax), though I got a few options. I believe the margins might be in the options.

I've heard that a lot of us are getting up to $20k off list for M235i, I know I did.

Not as much on 228i as it's LCT free, but a useful guide.

Was that off ones on the lot or built to spec. If the latter, then hot damm maybe I should have gone the M235i route

My advice is 5K minimum off asking price or walk away. Always aim higher but that would be my bottom line, you will also find that an optioned car has more room often resulting in the options been cost free to make up your discount .

I got $9500 off my 220i and free serving for 4 years thrown in , and that was for a build to order car.

Main tip is do you research on what options ect are must haves for you then be polite and friendly and you may be surprised at the willingness shown to do a deal , come in half cocked and full of it, will see you with a less than stellar deal.

Also if the dealer is in any way rude ect walk away, i cant stress enough that the after sales relationship is just as important as the sales process and if the dealer is displaying arrogance ect at the point of sale then you can bet your bottom dollar you will be treated to a less than warm after sales service.

Thats my two cents i hope it helps i find its served me well and not once have i paid close to sticker price for a car BMW or otherwise the sales process should be an enjoyable one and if the dealer cant do that then maybe there not the ones to go with.
