Coding a X5M?

Any difference since I have that on my F15 X5 now? I really love the mirrors folding up when I lock the door.

Likelihood is that the X5M and X6M is running the latest software version which, at the moment, opasha tells us is uncodable on all chassis variants

So, likely need to prepare yourself for not having that toy any more...

I hope to be able to downgrade to code. Honestly it's kind of pathetic that a $50k Touareg will fold the mirrors on lock but a $120k BMW won't.

More pathetic is that the actions of a small few ruined this for everybody by making it available for free.

Agreed. I'm not yet convinced that it's not possible without a merge of various device files.... it looks like it's the naming that's been removed.... but until I've got a car myself to play around with (my E71 is a poor candidate!) I'm not going to take "no" for an answer ;p

I know, what a shame that a $120,000 SAV cant fold mirrors unless you fold them with the door button. Funny, my V10 TDI Touareg did it, and never needed codes. Thanks BMW for being a team player! I guess they want us thinking we drive Kia's!

I won't either. But this also affects things that I've already paid money for, like my European taillights. I can't install them without the ability to code them. So I'm out $2k.

There are some workarounds. I'm waiting for my car to see what software version it's running and whether these work before getting anybody's hopes up. However based on offline experimentation without a car it's good news.

Production is almost complete. So hopefully by next weekend.

Between coding, tail and headlight installation, and all the M Performance bits, it's going to be a busy first few days.

You're doing the euro tails again?
What headlight parts are you changing?

If it's not production complete it probably won't be next weekend tho.... mine waited three weeks after "production complete", finally left SC yesterday, and I'm being told it'll take 15 days before it even gets to the VPC in Oxnard, let alone shipped out for release to the dealer

Euro tails and euro headlights.

We will see. I'm not aware of any transport or other QC delays right now unless there's a backlog for rail shipments. Was yours marked sold? That usually helps it jump the queue.

Yup. Marked sold. Had steering issues during QC that delayed it. Just waiting on slow transit now... It's on the train to CA as of yesterday....

What's the difference with the euro headlights? Tail lights I knew about (proper colour turn signals and fogs).

Ah - I remember. It's been tough tracking everybody's cars and issues. Seems like not one of us has emerged from this process unscathed in some way. Either order issues or factory issues. Hopefully this is all resolved now. I had lunch with my friend who works for NA earlier and while there he called one of the plant managers. I got a personal update on my vehicle, a couple smartphone pics, and an assurance that it will leave the factory on time with a small caveat that, well, stuff happens that's outside of BMW control. It's on the line, and I got to see my seats getting installed. (Assuming it was my vehicle, but I was promised it is and I could kind of make out my VIN, so I believe it.) Once it leaves the factory it's up to the railroad gods. I know over on the F15 forum someone had their car totaled during transit. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen to either you or me.

As for the headlights, they have a different beam pattern from US vehicles. Throws light a bit differently. And also seemingly makes anti-dazzle work 100%.

I'm going to try and use this opportunity to demonstrate US lights vs. ECE lights to see if that's the ultimate secret to unlocking this. I've had the lights since my outgoing X5 and anti-dazzle always worked for me.

I don't think the US DOT-regulated beam pattern lends itself well to anti-dazzle. Google "us vs ece headlight pattern" and you'll see some images that illustrate the difference in cutoff and beam pattern.
