Bit of help needed...

Hi guys, if I do decide to change with end of March deadline for the deal i've decided i don't really need a touring so could get another saloon.

Question is - is the 335d really worth the extra over the 330d? I reckon i could get up to £9k discount on the 330d and maybe £10k off the 335d

If i went for the 330d is it worth pushing the boat out for the HUD & speed limit display? (don't think I can afford this if go for a 335d).

Basically aside from that it's a high specification i'm going for with adaptive suspension (330d i'd still go for xDrive).

test drive both. i had the exact same dilema. soon as i drove the 335 the car made the decision for me and i chose the 335.

the efficiency figures for the 335 are a bit off. so if efficiency is important to you then the 330 would be a great choice.

I have heard people say how good the HUD display is - if i go for a 330d i can probably afford to add the HUD. If I can't add some bells and whistles it'll be just like driving the same car again whilst i'm not giving it the beans!

Coming from a 320i the 330d will seem miles faster already so I'd suggest go for the 330d plus toys! You could always add the PPK later.

I've just been through this, and ordered my 330dx just yesterday. The 330d will be plenty fast enough i'm sure, especially as Tengo says coming from a 320i.

I've a high spec ordered, but didn't order HUD. I had it on my 5 series but wasn't a deal breaker for me. It came as part of a £2900 media pack, but I personally couldn't say that for the £800 odd that I would spec it as a singular option.

Hard to say yes, but I absolutely love it and would definitely spec it again!

Especially with the Active cruise, as the info is all there. It makes speed limit display more useful too and that's the other thing I wish i had specced with it.

Wife loves it too, especially for the sat nav info, and we specced it for her Mini too.

For me the extra cost for a bit more power, but much poorer suspension & the loss of steering feel from the xdrive made it a no brainer for me!

But as you'd get an xdrive 330d then you'll have all the disadvantages of the 335d anyway, so it's just down to cost, which only you can decide really.

Even better would be a 335i.

Going to be some huge discounts and you get to drive a car without a tug boat engine.....

Looking forward to see how well the speed limit display works on my 'new to me' 320d in just under 2 weeks

The discounts will do little to soften the blow of the enormous depreciation though!

Yes.

I use it every single trip - it's there right in front of your nose.

Barely look at the instrument cluster these days. Speed limit (reads temporary speed limits from signs), my present speed (speed display units switchable from km/h to mph - great if you are travelling abroad), music track selection, sat nav junction maps with distance countdown, speed limit warning, cold weather warning, low fuel, etc. all shown on my HUD.

Will spec again. Brilliant.

Get the 330d. The 335d will be too fast for you.

Cheeky sod! It's between one of those and an S3 at the moment. Fastest I've owned was a Focus ST but I've been on many a driving day, if anything the 335d would be a slouch ;-)

+1 again. Feel lost when I get into the 4 series which doesn't have it. In terms of value for money, £800 is too much, but it is an essential tool for those who enjoy their drives.

On model, hitting big revs for the second turbo in the 335d is a rare luxury unless you're rural (and the speeds are for the highly conscientious driver) so belive me, it really shifts. But you need to spend extra money on sorting the bloody awful suspension out (budget between £1k and 2.5k depending on your taste), but this won't be necessary on the 330d.

But if you're after a more nimble driving experience, Our Greek fellow makes a valid point for petrol, and suspect that the lower weight block of the 2.0 ltr 328i (soon to be the 330i?) will tick many boxes. Whatever bakes your cake really, it's an aged problem for all here and we could go round for hours! Love my 335d though.

Hehe, only a bit of banter.

If you are thinking of an S3, why not look at a Golf R? They are flavor of the month at the moment it seems.

If you are looking at S3 and have owned a focus ST then definitely try the 335d - 0-60 in 4.8s or 4.4s with a remap

Do they depreciate quickly? They would do if a 340d came out!

Just wait till the 330i comes out. The bottom will drop out of 328i's
