M135i 2015

LCI M135i......

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-rev...etter_20032015

Headline differences apart from the obvious facelift styling is that it get the engine as fitted to the M235i (with a whole 7bhp more!) and this.......

"The eight-speed auto can now pre-emptively select gear ratios based on GPS and mapping information – how far out, man, is that? Meanwhile, updates to said mapping information is now undertaken wirelessly via the BMW’s in-built 4G sim card. This also enables an automatic emergency call and response system, should you incapacitate yourself in one of those regretful ‘watch this!’ kind of moments."

No doubt should pave the way for similar upgrades to the 3 series LCI due out soon.

Everytime i see pics of the lci 1 series, I can't help but think they done a good job improving the front but made a mess on the rear, But i will save my final judgment for when i see one in the flesh

20 odd bhp more than a Golf R. Would it feel much quicker in the real world?

What an ugly arse. I am afraid it sill looks a minger. But I am sure it will be a great drive. For BMW Hatchback lovers, it is still the ticket.

As for me, I'd rather go Golf R (I did!) or Audi S3/RS3 Sportback.

Cracking little car, got so much going for it and perhaps the last 3 litre six turbo as they may move to 2.0l turbo to death engines. How much better can the M2 be?

That's a good question to which I'll wait and see, before deciding whether to swap the wife's mini for one or other.

Straight six petrol heaven and RWD in a compact and chuck able package.... What's not to like!

It sounds like they really dislike the VSS! I'm confused, is VSS good or not?!

What's the P2W ratio between to 2? And what's with 'Big Brother' playing with the gear ratios? that will be near useless on 90% roads here

That's what I thought. They will stop doing it when they do their jobs and actually look at what they're reviewing. Which is never. Hacks.

It's had the same engine as the M235 for ages, they just didn't say so until now, it changed when they moved to an electronic waste gate

The M135i is a cracking car, but slightly outshone by its prettier sister, the M235i. This update goes some way to narrowing the gap. "Putting lipstick on a pig" is probably a little harsh, the M135i is no prom queen, but has some truth behind it. Our demo M235i with 390hp and RS suspension outpaced an M4 recently and demonstrated how good the M2 will be.

I always think the pre lci looks more like a shark, I'd never dream of trading my M135i for an lci so if I ever do decide to get a new car it will have to be an M235 or M2 as I hate the new look of the M135i

I have to agree. I know the 1 series gets a bit of a slating regarding its looks, but I've always quite like the 'back heavy' look of a car, which is why I've always had estates/tourers/avants/sport wagon (delete as appropriate).
Personally don't really like the saloon look, plus not that practical for me.
I am biased though as recently chopped the F31 335d for a pre-LCI M135. Far better spec than the F31 I had, £90/month cheaper, and brilliant fun.
The back of the LCI looks too much like the Golf, and you wouldn't want to confuse the R owners.
