Insurance company recommendations

I've been in Socal for 4 years now, so I know insurance is expensive no matter who you use but still looking for a solid insurer at reasonable prices.

I have a clean record, 40+, single male and currently with Liberty Mutual for 5+ years with full lease coverage (100/300/100) with $1k deductibles.

I live in LA but still pay north of $1,400/yr with a low mileage discount. I recently shopped Wawanesa but was only going to save $100-150.

Any other suggestions/experiences?

Thanks in advance

Mercury! They have handled two previous total losses I've had with such professionalism. And what I pay in L.A. with high mileage on the M235i is pretty damn low. I'm still in my 20s and I'm just north of 1k a year.

+1

Just switched to them and I'm paying for more liability coverage, but paying about the same rate as I did for my previous car (GTI).

Also, Liberty Mutual is ridiculously expensive. They quoted me around $1400 too.

Must be where I live b/c Mercury quoted me roughly the same as Liberty Mutual. Kind of frustrating. They were very nice to deal with though. I didn't have my policy in front of me to make sure it was an apples to apples, so unless my memory is way off, the difference is negligible. Ugh

I'll double check when I get back home.

I have a clean record and use Amica. Haven't had to use them yet, but they get outstanding reviews and are priced well because they only insure low risk drivers (lower the risk of the driver pool, the lower the insurance premiums).

I did one time use the windshield protection coverage, but that is handled by a third party, even though I pay for it through the same policy. It was super easy. Made an appointment with my service center (BMW), got confirmation that a rock chip on the windshield was not going to be overlooked by a lease return specialist since it was on the path of the wiper blades, so it had to be replaced rather than fixed. Service center quoted way too much for the service, but the insurance company simply paid it. Bought some goodwill with my service advisor, I'm sure.

Probably not going to save you a ton of money, but the service I get makes me feel good that if I ever need to use it, it won't be an outright hassle.

Anyone have USAA? I'd like to take advantage of their BMW discount.
Had a spotless record for 10 years,
until last year when I rear ended someone in my beater.

Just got quoted $1500 by AAA. Low mileage. Multi-car discount. Garaged.

I'm still looking for alternatives.

Using USAA, 100/300/100 with $1k deductible and $100 other comprehensive deductible and I pay about $1200 every year. I highly recommend lowering other comprehensive deductibles since that covers things like windshields and what not.

I have Geico and had them for quite a few years. I haven't found anyone that can beat the rate for the same coverage I have now as I was just shopping around.

Being in the automotive service industry for nearly 12yrs now I can confidently say that the top three tier companies are the following: AAA, Mercury, State Farm, everyone else is subpar and aren't necessarily for the customers or policy holders if you will, pay extra for better coverage...

AAA has been great to my family, we've been covered by them over 20 years.

Statefarm has only been good experiences for me, I hear great things about Mercury as well.
I'd say, you definitely get what you pay for though.

How efficient and quick they are in terms of handling claims, inspections, subrogation etc. really makes a difference on your peace of mind.

And then comes the important part that makes a difference in your peace of mind as you continue to drive the car down the road- How they choose to repair your vehicle.

I recently heard of an insurance company that asked a body shop to look for non-oem parts from 70+ different vendors to repair a brand new vehicle..

That said, it usually doesn't hit you until you get in an accident though.
