Parking Sensors

Haven't got my F31 yet but just thought I would ask about how good the parking sensors are.

On my E46 the tone wouldn't go ballistic until you were about 3cm from the car behind.

My wife's Honda CRV goes nuts at about 30cm - fat lot of use if you are trying to get into (or out of!) a tight space

10cm would be fine, 20 a bit OTT

Unlikely but does anyone know whether it's adjustable in software?

Yes.

Take the "software hammer" out of toolkit.

Apply violently to offending sensors, without marking surrounding paint.

Enjoy peace.....

Garage List
When the tones go constant, the distance is 30cm or 12 inches. This leaves enough room for you to walk in front of or behind the car....

Parking tones are really good

Starts with an intermittent beep which gets faster the closer you get leading onto a constant tone followed by a loud thud

That's when you know you should really stop

Don't you need room for the tailgate to open?

I find the distance left on the F31 seems to allow for this.

I find parking sensors great and probably accurate to 20 - 30cm (depends on height of obstruction).
For parking in typical box garage I use a laser parking aid on a beam overhead which hits Nav screen when I need to stop- this brings distance down to ~5cm.

They're really accurate and cheap off of fleabay- setting between the dash trim and bottom of Nav screen gives me accuracy of about 1"!

That said, throwing some of the junk on shelves at back of garage out so I had more space would have been even cheaper- but I'm sure I'll use it one day...
