2007 320d Battery Change - Problems

Hi,

My friends 2008 N47, efficient dynamics 320d had been complaining of a failing battery for a few months.

Yesterday, I changed the battery for him with a like for like 90AH AGM BMW battery from a main dealer. Upon trying to start the car, I immediately ran into two problems:

Problem 1:

As soon as the ignition was switched on, the car chimed and showed the message in idrive "Automatic start/stop - Engine will not stop or start automatically. Possible to continue journey. Have the problem checked by BMW service."

Message shown below. Picture is from a 1 series but the message is identical.

Problem 2:

Oil service now due. Mileage remaining until next oil service is now 0 miles? Before we changed the battery it was 12,000 miles or so.

Any ideas?

I have found out that I need to register the new battery, which I will do tomorrow.

I am not sure if this will resolve either of these issues though. Maybe the battery registration will sort the start/stop error? Why has the CBS oil service now mucked up??

Many thanks,

Also,

When using tool32, to register a new battery what .prg file should I open?

People talk about MSV70, MSV80 or MSD80 but as I can understand it, these are for the petrol models.

Surely I will need to open the correct .prg file for the N47 engine the car has in order to successfully register the new battery?

Thanks again,
