335d resale $$ in the toilet?
A quick search on autotrader shows that our cars took a significant hit in the last few months.. I wonder if it's low gas prices or ? Anyone else notice it?

I don't see too much of a decrease. It's classic BMW value IMO. It drops like a rock.

I'm assuming the word on CBU and faulty emissions components is out.

Honestly, would anyone of us recommend a BMW diesel to family or friend without talking about the extra things needed to be done to stop CBU? The CR viewpoint is likely pointing to cleanings every 50,000 miles. Not saying i'm happy about the rating but average CR reader is way more main stream than us.

My brother-in-law just got a 2011 and before he bought it, he and I had numerous discussions about the various topics on this board.
I bought my 2010 about two years ago and purchased the BMW D based on recommendations I got while living overseas. Those recommendations were Europe-based. I had to learn about the US-based BMW D issues the hard way - after buying into the club. So to BB-cuda's point, I only recommended the 'fun' of the 335d with lots of 'beware of CBU' and 'you have to do XYZ to minimize' - I did not want him to learn the way I did. Knowing what I paid for a 3.5 y/o 2010 335d and what my brother-in-law paid for a 4 y/o 2011 335d, I have anecdotal 'data' that shows the rapid drop-off in prices. |

Wait a minute, we are thinking about this all wrong! Time to pick up another one for spare parts. Let's see, extra set of tires and wheels, couple of turbos, spare MAF ...

A 2011 m-sport with 45k miles on it, just sold near me for 21,500. Can't believe I missed that deal! I'm still searching for my D, and I'm thankfull that they are cheaper now. So simpletons like me can afford them...well, sorta

I 'have' a 2011 AW M-Sport that was purchased new by my parents and I have 'inherited (read: got it for $15k)' about three weeks ago - the car has 75k on it with an extended third party warranty. Suffering signs of CBU but seems fine otherwise... I am really, really hesitant to keep it as I fear something breaking that I can't afford to fix on my own. I'm coming off owning multiple E30s... It scares me when I see indys charging what I had into an S52 swap in an E30 just to clean the intake manifold and head.

Mine was $24.5k, @ 52 k miles. Mint interior and exterior. Montego blue. I've been waiting for these cars to fall out of warranty for years so I could pick one up cheap. I was going to kill any warranty by modding it anyway. My TDI VW makes I've twice the factory hp and has about 245k on the clock. I've spent tons of money getting that cat where I wanted it. When I'm done with the D, I'll probably have 2/3 of what a new one costs. I'm in sales so I drive for a living. Might as well have fun doing it.

Actually a 2052 (not MUCH difference, but a little more exhaust flow. Looking to do 2260 or compounds) Full ground control suspension. Recaro interior, 312mm brakes, etc. Same name on TDI club.

Nah, local inde quoted me $2300 for the CBU cleaning. I have no problem doing the work myself.

see post 54 and 57: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...5#post17698135 My experience with my 335d tell me that it is unlikely that I will find an independent mechanic that can deal with all the emission system issues with this car. I had the dealer open multiple cases with BMW NA and they had my car multiple time for over 3 months in 2014. They loaded and reloaded multiple software revision for the DDE and experimented with offset for the injector calibration in order to turn off the check engine light.
