Buying advice for a 2011 335i xDrive sedan.

I am parting with my 2006 330xi and have always coveted the turbo version that came out the year after I bought my new car. It's been excellent but has 167,000 miles on it, so I'm set to replace it.

A BMW dealer has a 2011 priced at $29,391 which seems really fair at first glance. It is a CPO (warranty on everything up to 100,000 miles) and has just 27,000 miles on it now. It's the automatic with StepTronic, had navigation, premium package and cold weather package. About the only thing doesn't have that I will miss is the comfort access.

Anyway, I would appreciate your opinions on both the price and this particular model as well.

NJ and you can always get a warranty from BMW. You can prob negotiate this to 28,000 if you are willing to move quick

CPO is an awesome warranty. Free oil changes plus front to back warranty. I will certainly try to get the price down, but I think it's a great deal as is.

I have a similar one, sport not XI, but with the same other features. That's a decent price and you could probably get them down a little, but that's still a pretty good deal.

That's low mileage, so you'll have a lot of mileage left under CPO. I would check the car's original sell date to see when the original warranty runs out. The CPO won't cover everything covered by the original warranty and CPO charges you $50 each time you have to take it in for repair. If it is an early 11, that original warranty will be running sometime this year.

Also check carfax for any serious accidents, etc...

One last item to mention: Early 11's did not have bluetooth music streaming, while late 11 models did. If this is important to you, ask the dealer to demonstrate it.

...so thanks a heap. Not sure the 'bluetooth music streaming' will mean anything to me. I tend to listen to my own CDs or Sirius XMU. That original warranty has some relevance though.

My wife had a CPO and I don't recall that she needed it very much, although it included valet service for oil changes, which was sweet since that dealer was about 45 minutes from our home.

The original sale date also sets the start date for the CPO warranty, so again this date can be important. If the car is a late 2011 model the sale date might be in 2011 meaning the original warranty doesn't run out until mid this year (2015) and the CPO warranty is good for 2011 + 6 years, or until 2017.

If an early 11 (sold in 2010), the original warranty may already be expired and CPO might end as early as 2010 + 6 years = 2016.

CPO doesn't give you a free oil change OP. They are lying to you. it's the 4/50k maintenance.

you can def do better.. i bought my CPO 2011 335i xdrive in jan 2014 with 14k miles on it and paid $29k with extended maintenance plan.. its confusing what CPO covers and not but luckily, my car has been problem-free for the most part! i didn't even have to pay $50 deductible when i got the LPFP replaced under CPO so i guess all depends on the SA at the dealership..

I didn't say it did. Or didn't mean to imply that.

We bought her car from Sun Motors and it was a CPO and free oil changes were part of the deal.
