Issues with m4

Hi all,

I LOVE My new my m4.. had a couple of issues I wanted to inquire about prior to taking it to the dealer

1. hoodclosing- I Noticed that the hood isn't closing easily. I feel if I close the hood and try to push it closed it will not, I have to almost slam it shut or it won't close. Sometimes I have to lock and unlock the car for it to work even when slamming... any insights?

2. seat belt light- 3 times during driving I have gotten the seat belt warning and chime... coincidentally I have had my cell phone on the passenger seat during these time.. has anyone else had these issues??

thanks

I drop my hood to close it. Ka-klunk. Or i have to press down on latch points...prefer kaklunk.

The seat is sensitive but a phone? I know my ~10 pounds of computer and work papers makes the seat think there is a passenger.

Drop the hood to close. The BMW genius at the PCD showed me how to press on the latch points, but I am concerned that I will bend/depress the aluminum hood.

I've had the same experience with the seat belt warning and chime. Mine occurred with a cell phone in the passengers seat as well.

All standard stuff.. Drop the hood to close (Check the catches on both sides have locked into place) - I can't even put my MacBook air on the seat beside me, the Airbag sensor is very sensitive, so I just put in in the back seat now :-(

The phone thing happened to me in my Volkswagen(s) and my Mustang(s)... this isn't a BMW specific thing.

You can also adjust the rubber on the hood to allow for easier closing.

Seatbelt also, as well as a few random frontal collision warning red car on HUD and dash.

Side note--- I HATE how you have to slam the trunk to close it completely.

For the trunk, there are 2 plastic stops you can adjust to make closing the trunk a bit less forceful. Look on the edge of the trunk lid, a bit wider than shoulder width from the lock mechanism. You will find a plastic stop knob that can be screwed in/out to adjust how much force is needed to close the trunk.

They made the hood "tighter" on F8x and later F3x because on the earlier F30's the hood was "easier" to close but then ran into problems of them not "springing" up enough to where. You could make the 2nd pull to fully release it.

On my 2012 F30 eventually after pulling the 1st time I would have to go and pull up on the hood by hand and then go back into the car and pull the handle again then I could open it.
To close your hood just drop from about 15-20" above and it will fully close with no pressing down.

HAHA I have the same quirks!! The hood takes so force, or dropping it a little higher. The seatbelt chime really gets to me. How does my 400 gram cell phone set off the seatbelt chime?
