N20 oil analysis after 2000 miles

I sent some oil over to Blackstone Labs after our European Delivery trip with lots of Autobahn and Nürburgring use on our 2015 328xi wagon. We did 1400 miles there, all of them pretty hard miles, and all the other miles in the US which were much more tame without the Autobahn and track miles on it. Anyone interested, the thread about that is here: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1047853

Here are the results, thought I'd post it here for FYI for folks - my search didn't come up with any N20 oil analysis posts. Overall it looks pretty good I'd say.

Wear numbers look abnormally low for such a low mileage car. FWIW BMW doesn't use a 40w oil in your car. This is why your viscosity number is so far off. In addition we don't know what the factory fill is (Shell, Fuchs, etc). I wonder if it's their LL14 spec oil with BS saying 20w.

Yeah I just took a guess as to what it was - it wasn't that important to me what the factory fill was. I'm using 0w-40 Mobil 1 now and will post another report when I do the analysis after 4k miles per their recommendation.

Good post. I still strongly believe in Mike Miller's old school maintenance by changing engine oil around 1500-2000 miles for new vehicles (break in only). OP, have you changed out your trans/diff fluids?

I haven't, but am thinking about doing it at 5k miles. We were pretty hard on the car on the Autobahn and Nürburgring so it wouldn't be a bad idea to.

Ours is the wagon that only comes in xDrive so I'll have 2 diffs as well as the transfer case...

What's a real pain is that even though BMW sells the "lifetime" fluids, I need to bring containers to the dealer to get the fluids. 3 types of fluid, and probably 8 quarts for the auto will be expensive, and a pain to transport!
