Novice lowering question for F36 Xdrive DHP

Hi all,

I apologize for the simplicity of this question, and am happy to be pointed to another thread but I couldn't find anything -- perhaps because this is a very basic question!

I have a stock 435 GC Xdrive with DHP, 19" Msport wheels -- I'm looking to lower the car (not much). Can anyone provide (or direct me to) a basic overview of what one needs to consider to lower a car that has Xdrive and DHP? I'm happy with the feel of the stock suspension in the various modes, just looking to lower the car a bit for cosmetic purposes. Does any aftermarket modification negate or otherwise interfere with the DHP functionality? Would coilovers serve this purpose without interfering? Again, this is all new to me so I may be way off.

Any advice (general or specific) is much appreciated, thanks!

I think the best way to lower the DHP moderately is to get the Dinan Springs + Bump Stops + Dinan DHP Shockware

You will not lose any of the DHP functionality.

I'm not a DHP guy, so I can't speak to how the setup feels, but I do currently have H&R Sports on my GC X-drive, and it does a nice job bringing the car down to a "sportier" height. I'm selling them in the classified section, with only 200 miles or so on them. Check out that thread to see pics of the new height.

If you just want to lower for cosmetic/non-performance reasons, then lowering springs are sufficient. You will retain the DHP functionality.

Dinan does not have anything for F36 x-drive
Do they even have F36 RWD springs? Their website doesn't seem to have anything when I select the F36.

ACS makes lowering springs for the GC xdrive:

http://shop.ac-schnitzer.co.uk/suspe...rom-5051-p.asp

Confirmed this on ACSs website price list.

My biggest concern about the HRs is that they seem to list the same part number for several cars (at least the ones I've checked), including the GC xdrive. When you consider the weight differences between all of these cars, I have doubts that "one spring" is able to do it all. I'll be asking my dealer about the ACS and if they would have any extra grief if they were installed.

Went with H&R sport springs to drop my F30 335xi. The springs combined with my M Adaptive Suspension feels fairly good...I personally don't feel it being too bouncy on my daily drives around town. DHP still works so no issues there.

I lowered it mainly for cosmetic reasons, with the expectation that the ride wont be quite as good as stock. So based on my expectations I am extremely happy. Visually the car looks 100x better (matched with some 10mm/15mm spacers). But if you expect the ride quality to improve over stock, then you may be disappointed and might want to consider going with a full coilover setup.

Just curious, how did the car look without spacers? I'm thinking spacers are a must with OEM wheels.

I have been looking at NovaTuning springs for my F36 X-Drive. Seem to lower less than HR and a littlebit less than ACS. http://novatunegermany.com/en/catego...uspension-f36/

Spacers are a must if you are lowering on stock wheels IMHO. They go hand in hand. Without them, the tuck you get at stock height is even worse because of the slightly increased negative camber you naturally will be running with a lowered car.

I am now sitting on 12/18mm front and back and it sits perfect IMO on my stock wheels.

I would say if both are without EDC or both are with EDC then they should fit provided they are both either x drive or rwd.
but Im not 100% sure so take it with a grain of salt
