coke spilled all over the gear shift, adaptive suspension buttons etc.

To moderator: If I have posted in the wrong area, please kindly move it for me. greatly appreciated it.

I'm sure i am not the only one who accidentally did it in the car. lol
A week ago I got some fast food by drive-thru. The cup wasn't properly secured so when the time i hold the cup, the cup squeezed and coke spilled all over the gear shift, adaptive suspension, camera and steering buttons - a mess. I quickly wiped it but unfortunately the liquor sunk in between the gaps. I didn't pay much attention until today when i was trying to change the suspension. The button was hardly pressed in and the other way around. I tried other buttons as I mentioned above and indicated the same result.

Just wonder if any M4 bimmers here faced the same issue before?

Lol dude buy a steamer.

A cloth and one of those and life is not scary anymore. This applies to kids also, as in you'll let them into the car again.

Do you think interior detail provided by car wash store will help?
I'm too lazy to get it done by myself

Dude no pity offered to owners like me.

I know for sure if you want all the sticky shit out, a 50 buck steamer will help you out. You get off easy by asking one of the car wash people to clean it all for you before you take on the task.

A simple steamer will take any stain off in seconds. Just don't use one up and close as soon as you buy one. Learn to use it first.

I'm not lazy, I'm hopeless. I can build a house but not clean one. I still have had my fair share of bad luck with stuff I'd like to wear again without shopping AGAIN.
steam. I'm telling you.

Haha,

I got this tip from a cop who pulled me over.

"miss, you really need to use this kind of shit. I see you every morning. But really, get the car cleaned"

My detailer told me he will shoot my dog. My usual school zone cop says I am so bad. So bad he doesn't give me tickets. You need to take advice from the detailer folks. I just drive mine, fast.

Feeling like an idiot on this forum...meh, I do it often.

English is my fourth language, and when I used to know my shit about cars, this wasn't the language I read about them.

Perspective man! My car is my only place to hold my stuff in so it's full. Kids would love to have their hands on the stuff so the car is locked at all times.

My car won't ever have track time with me because I'm too busy. It also had an oil gauge issue I was told "untill more of these hit tracks at your speeds, we don't know what to fix".

My detailer nicely told me he will shoot/ shave my dog. And he kindly asked me if I could only get people who own pants into my car.

Coke is small stuff. It cleans out really well. Out of all the cars on this forum, I doubt anyone has more miles in theirs than I do so do as told. Cry when nobody sees you do it.

Normal Coke or Diet Coke?

I ask because if it was regular Coke, then it's got loads of sugar in it which will encourage things to grow under the switch panel which may eventaully start to smell.

I know you don't fancy doing much (any) of this, but it's worth getting the switch panel out and getting it clean underneath. Steam cleaner is a top call from Lups - having read her posts, her car sounds like the interior gets a tough time (just saying...), so she should know.

You'll need to get stuck into the carpet as well. Have fun!

Your mastery of writing in english as a FOURTH language is amazing dude. English is my first and truly only fluent language and I sound like an idiot sometimes.

To get back on topic, I would pop the trim and steam it out like RhapsodyK recommended

"Electrical Contact Cleaner"

"Electrical Contact Cleaner" from anywhere.

Spray the shit out of everywhere and with a towel and tooth brush scrub as you go.

The stuff is non conductive.. you can spray it into the top of a TV until all the funk starts draining out of the bottom- while you are watching it.

Of course, test it a small area of the interior first. Ive never had any problems tho.

Works miracles cleaning up stuff spilt on electronics or electronics dropped into stuff.. it will displace water.

Personally, I would not use a steam cleaner on sticky buttons or anywhere near wires and open connectors. (water+electricty HELLO!)

WD-40 is a close second to contact cleaner- except that it stinks and leaves a residue. But will get you by.

This happened to me in my E92 with a Mexican Coke. I accelerated too quickly onto the freeway and it toppled out of the cup holder. I took apart my center console and cleaned the buttons. Unfortunately the idrive only worked when it was hot enough outside to melt the sticky natural sugar so I had to replace the controller. That was about two years ago and up until I traded the car for my M4 I was always finding more droplets of gooey Mexican Coke no matter how thoroughly my obsessive compulsive tendencies cleaned. I even found some on the back of the passenger seat. The back!!! It was like catholic rabbits multiplying.

One day in an Audi 90 Quattro I used to have, I went to Starbucks and ordered a strawberry and cream frappacino thing. I spilled the entire thing between the seat and center console. When I got home, expecting a mess, I found nothing. I never found any signs of it. I think it fell into a forth dimension or something.

Definitely take the trim apart and clean it. The sugar will make the buttons sticky and that will drive you nuts.

Today when i was trying the press the buttons, i could feel residue inside the gaps and made the situation even worse.
