Why did I buy a manual
Hi all,
On 21st March 2015 I bought my self a 320d sport (manual, 497 alloys, sun protection glass and black wing mirrors) so pretty much simple. I love every bit of it. After joining this forum I told my self "why did I not go for few more options or even m sport". However, this morning I drove my mates 320d auto m sport and fell in love with his car. I have driven autos before but f30 felt so nice as an auto. Now the question is, how much money will I loose if I part ex mine with another auto? It is going to be a silly thought? Will the massive discount on the outgoing model make any difference? Cheers Saurabh |

On plus side the new LCI is out with a better 2l engine and ZF8 gearbox. Have a look on the BMW website for your model - trade will be 2-3k less. If you go for a pre-LCI discounted the loss shouldn't too bad. Berry Heathrow have whole bunch of nearly new models they are trying to shift. |

I recently changed from a 320d Sport manual to a 320d M Sport with Sports auto, This is my first auto and i have to say as most already know the auto is brilliant and i wouldn't be buy a manual again any to soon, In my opinion Bmw manuals are terrible, I've had a manual gearbox in E87, 2 E90's, F10 and F30 and they were all the same, Notchy/clunky gearbox, Pedal's are offset to the right, Most have clutch judder, Fairly heavy clutch pedal you get a leg workout just sitting in traffic
I still drive a manual on a daily basis as i have a Navara work vehicle but that just makes me appreciate the auto even more when i drive it. |

I did get a good discount, I paid around £23500 (RRP 30,900). Let me call few dealers and see what they have to say about it. |

As above, if you are thinking about changing, why not get an engine upgrade and look at the 6 cylinders. If your mate's that you tried was a 6 cylinder, then I think you'd be wanting one as well as the auto.

BMW make some incredible autos, their manuals aren't too bad but nothing great. VAG still have one of the slickest and smoothest manuals in my opinion.
My advice to you is to wait it out (18-24months)! Otherwise, you will get into a never ending cycle of wanting more and more options then mods and when will enough ever be enough? It will become a never ending cycle.

I'd never buy a manual daily driver ever again. Modern autos are generally massively better than the manual in every way, mpg, co2 and that includes DSG cars.....

Hi all,
Called couple of dealers today; Spire Watford - Asked for Riaz (as per recommendation) and was told that he will phone back. After an hour the receptionist phoned to say that Riaz is too busy and he cant phone you so if you want you could e mail him the query and he shall reply. I then insisted for a call back and I was promised a call back within 2 hours however no response. I found it so strange as is this how they want to do business. If I want to give them my £40K then I would want them to talk to me not just keep ignoring. Cotswolds BMW - part ex value - £21K and on a new 330d m sport pro nav, metallic paint, red leather and sport + pack they are just offering me 15% discount which is not good. |
