some CF questions
is it easy to learn how to make CF parts?
Is there some sort of school one can go to learn how to do this work? how much experience is necessary to get to a GOOD level. i would be interested in learning this trade and don't mind if i have to travel overseas like a foreign country for a month to learn the trade. any advise would be helpful or it's more trouble then it's worth. OPEN for discussion...suggestion.. I will do some free paint protection parts for anyone who can get me in contact with the right contact(lead). free headlight, mirror, fogs, and trunk load area. -raja

definitely use the correct facial protection...little bits and fibers (when inhaled) significantly raise the risk of cancer.
good luck.

well, i am a student at VT and there's this thing called Formula SAE, which I applied for. some students are making actual CF parts i believe. i've seen the actual accelerator/throttle pedal and other parts of the car. it was definately not as good as what we can buy from vendors here but it seems very interesting. i hope i can make it
if i do...i will let you know about that http://www.vtmotorsports.com/ link to my school team. |

ok updated info on CF.
it's definately not complicated to make CF parts, it just takes time; i don't know the detail info but i was there for about 4 hours to chat with members, read their reports, etc. and they do their own CF work. they purchased a roll of CF layers(?) and they take that to the place about 30 mins away from VT and make parts. according to one of seniors, he told me that the quality of CF that they use is about as same as seibons. i've also seen the military quality CF parts that previous members used. i was told to come and learn from other members so i might be able to make some CF parts for our team car no pictures, i dont have digital camera with me...:/ |
