Does anyone use or have heard of this oil? (SWD Rheinol 5W-40)
I tried searching but couldn't find any matching information; even Google only really brings up their site (which is in German).
I'm asking because it's the specific oil that my trusted Indy uses and they give me free oil changes, so who am I to say no right? Anyway, oil seems to be very good. Runs strong, no hiccups, and absolutely zero problems with my vehicle engine wise, etc. Link: http://www.swdrheinol.com/products/m...s-hdc-5w40.php Doesn't seem to be a very common oil, unless it's somehow rebranded and sold under another name over here in the states? Maybe some fellow European brethren can chime in? Looks like quality--just want to know if other people use this as well, their thoughts, comparisons, etc. Product Description: "Newest generation high-performance low friction oil for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Meets i.a. the requirements of Porsche, Opel GM-LL-B-025 and Renault RN 710/700. Approval according VW 502.00 / 505.00 and MB-approval 229.3. Primus HDC · SAE 5W-40 API SN/CF ACEA A3 / B4" Last edited by YouAreMyWorld; 05-13-2015 at 04:58 AM.. |

I see the spec mentions Mercedes 229.3 but not Mercedes 229.5
229.3 is long life but 229.5 is even longer life with a different oil filter. I don't know which one of these would compare to BMW LL-01. Two other oils I know that have BMW LL-01 approval, (Mobil and Castrol 0W40 European formula versions) have also MB 229.5 approval along with 229.3 So this oil may not go as long as BMW LL-01, but still go long. I would go 10K miles, but not 15K miles. |

Im a big oil buff. First time heard about this one tho, almost thought its ravenol misspelled, which btw is made in germany too.
Looks like this one ll98, think i see it on the bottle. They have a 0w40 that seems to be ll01. It is also unclear if its 100% synthetic. Do you have any specs on it?

This is their full synthetic product with BMW LL-04 rating Primus DXM SAE 5W-40. As long as he stands behind it who cares. I had Total put in several times as the Indy by a former client did oil changes for cheap, but then again I do 5-6K changes.

LL-04 is outside of US, LL-01 is for US as far as I know, due to gasoline properties sold. Mobil 1 0w-40 or Castrol Edge 0w-40 European formula versions are so cheap at Walmart at 5 quarter jugs that to me buying any other oil seems pointless. Both are LL-01. |
