How well does alcantara trims hold up?

My steering wheel trim is peeling. The M-sport trim is like $104 + shipping, but alcantara is like $46 something dollars. Big difference.

Was just thinking of going with alcantara, but not sure of the look and longevitity and how well it holds up to dirt, oil from fingers.

Anyone know/have a clue?

I have Alcantara on the seats of my 2004 Lexus IS 300. It is very durable. It still looks great after 11 years.

Those were great cars. Liked them more as I got older. Can't say the same about their lineup these days though, especially with that Predator grille.

OP, just maintain it properly and you'll be fine. No sense in spending so much on that damn trim anyway.

I know, these damn trims are expensive and it's ludicrous that they are peeling even after 5 years. Every other interior piece in the BMW is very good and high quality, but these plasti-coated pieces of made with pure crap.

I hope the alcantara trim doesn't peel either . heheh

If you use a sunscreen in your windshield it will help the interior last much longer. Cali and Texas have it pretty rough.

Agree with you about the IS300 and how ugly the new lineup is. Here is a pic from 2013

Had alcantara seats on my ZHP. They held up very well. The alcantara steering wheel did not, though.

Had alcantara seats in a used Audi 2004 S4; they got very dirty and started to rip. Don't know what they had been through, but I don't see it as better than leather.
In Europe, they are just budget fabric.

I loved the seats in all three of my IS 200. And prefer Alcantara over leather

Where did you find an M sport trim for $104? Thanks!
