Need advice on tracks to visit between Greer SC and San Diego CA
Hi all,
My M3 is finally ready for re delivery at the performance center on June 12 Could I please get some advice on tracks to visit on my way home to San Diego? I am actively trying to do a day at COTA but can't find a club hosting an event during that time Any other tracks I should investigate? Thanks! |

I'd say: VIR if you don't mind going 2 hours north first, then Road Atlanta for sure, Barber Motorsports Park, and of course COTA but that's out I guess.
My journey recommendation would actually be to go to VIR first, hit Summit Point next, then New Jersey Motorsports Park, then Watkins Glen, Monticello, then turn left to Mid-Ohio and Road America, and while near-death ship the car home from there |

Agreed on those other east coast tracks. I will do those another year starting in Toronto with Mosport and heading south. Damn it, I am so bummed. I am thinking about skipping out of the PCD and just asking for the car shipped to CA. It is such a huge hassle to drive across the country and with no DEs on the calendar the motivation to do the drive is way down E92murdered I did euro delivery and drove 1,150 miles in Germany and Belgium so the break in is completed already, and the break in service will either be done at the PCD or a local dealer nearby the PCD EDIT: any opinions on Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Jennings, OK ? |

My CA went to bat for me and got me 6/12, and I pretty much have to make that work. That, and as much I would love to do an HPDE at sebring, I want my car NOW |

Nothing in the 12-Jun to 16-Jun time frame though Can I just reiterate I am SO EXCITED to be switching to the F80 for HPDE this year. Anyone got a hook up for data acquisition gear? |

Dont miss VIR, you will LOVE it, the M3 does very well there so I think it's worth the detour.

That is such a generic question in the world we live in today.
Do you want a stand alone system? Do you need video? Do you want to use your smartphone? Budget? What do you want monitored? I use a Racelogic Performancebox. I also have Harry's lap timer app with an external 10hz GPS plus an OBD 2 dongle. |

I was planning to get the Aim Solo with the add on for video (smartycam?) as per this older NASA magazine article http://www.speednewsmag.com/July2014.html |

I have been using data analytics for over a decade and probably tried half of them in the market, this year I switched to AIM and I truly love the integration to the cam and particularly the software for actual analytics.
I would highly recommend: http://www.m-world.us/aim_solo_dl_gp...ta_logger.html (Solo DL + SmartyCam HD 2) |

Wallet may require me to look at using other software to do the video overlay instead of Smartycam |

Understandable, however here is another perspective: you generally do not change or want to change you data logging system often, I generally use it for 5 to 7 years (sometimes use several at the same time), so total cost of ownership is around $300-400/yr, and most often you can resell used item and recover 30-60% of original cost

If you want to truly analyze your laps then you need to stay with major players like AIM or Racelogic. The software used to break down the data is top notch.
