Recommend a Synthetic Sealant?
In preparation for my spring cleaning (2008 Jet Black), I've spent a few hours reading various articles on detailing. Rather than a waxing, I've decided on a synthetic sealant. Going to try the following:
1. Wash: Mothers California Gold wash. 2. Clay: Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit 3. Sealant: Need your suggestions., Klasse Sealant Glaze, something from Meguiar's maybe? Are Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 Paste and NXT Generation Spray Wax the same thing? Can anyone recommend a synthetic sealant...? Last edited by Rewted; 02-07-2008 at 03:20 PM.. |

No, AIO/Prime is the cleaner/primer and SG/Trigger is the sealant. You will need both, but they're only applied maybe once a month (depending on your weather conditions) at most, so it's not a chore. They're also a WO/WO product, so it's really easy to apply. A wash (or more) a week, and a coat of carnuba and you're good to go.

The paintwork cleanser (AIO or Prime) should only be applied when you've stripped the wax. If you're doing a normal wash/wax (no clay/polish) just refresh the sealant with SG or Jett / Jett Trigger.
Acrylic Jett Trigger is remarkably convenient. |

To answer your question about NXT, the 2.0 is new and is different from the old NXT. People on autopia seem to like the new stuff.

I've used Klasse for several years and it is a really good product. Recently I have been using Duragloss. and I'm very impressed with its durablility and appearance.

I really like optimum optiseal. You only need a little bit and a bottle will last you forever. I put a couple layers on and the shine is awesome. I did my parents car before winter and it still has awesome slickness and beads very well. It's also very easy to apply, you wipe it on and walk away, no need to buff it off.

Pooboys Products never disappoint. They are very noob-friendly, and the results are incredible. SG on the other hand can be a PITA to work with. Ive never worked with Jetseal but CG seem to put out really high quality stuff, but ive read they can be hit or miss (although JS seems to be a hit).
Id recommend EX-P topped with Nattys wax (Nattys Blue if youve got a dark colored car). This is actually what im currently using. EX-P goes on easily by hand or machine, and comes off even easier. http://www.poorboysworld.com/exp.htm http://www.poorboysworld.com/natty-blue.htm |

CG Jetseal is good stuf. You may also want to try Jeff's Werkstatt AJT (Acrylic Jet trigger). Easy to use and lasts a long time and looks great. It gives a hard candy shell looking finish to the paint. If you want crazy durability and good looks, collinite 476S is great.
