Definitely not changing my car - Thursday Mini shopping....

... so gentle thoughts about changing old company Cooper ended up with a demo Cooper SD 5dr and a Cooper 3dr now ending up in our hands.

Pretty chuffed as both cars have not done over 5k, are loaded and I'm saving nearly 10k over list over the two. Look at finance reductions and we're talking 20k saving over 4 years - getting low APR and allowances on them both (as well as TLC).

Point is - there's always a very low APR and deal to be done regardless of what is said on the tin and never be put off on not buying new.

Taking girls who are getting the cars to see them tomorrow. Neither knows they are getting them. One the most enjoyable parts of my job - am expecting tears!

If you tried giving me the 5 door there would indeed be tears. And not of joy!! Still can't get used the new 5 door Mini. Just doesn't look right.

The 3 door on the other hand.. As much as love my F31, I'm starting to think about downsizing.

It's better than that bloody Countryman and she wanted a 1 series and once you'd put the options on, it was silly money. Also those back seats get used about once a month. If you're inventive with colour combo, it doesn't look nearly as bad :-)

Our neighbour has a countryman s diesel and boy I thought the f30 20d engine was noisy. In the dead of night the Mini sounds like a tractor has turned into my drive. Same engine too.

That would personally put me off the Mini's.

My wife has a Cooper SD 5 door and that engine, in that car is way more refined than any 320d or 120d I've driven!

It's not what I'd want to drive everyday but the wife's 5 door is quite an impressive machine. Feels better screwed together than any 3 series does and some of the materials are a notch up too.
She drives it permanently in "maximum go-kart feel" mode and still averages 55mpg. And the way it handles makes her drive much faster than she would in the 335d! Around the town I quite enjoy it too.
I suspect it will hold its value better than the 335d too.

Hah! Was in his office yesterday afternoon bashing out a deal!

To be honest, there's a very good reason they get my business again and again. I know there are better cars out there but nothing is ever too much trouble. It's an absolute delight dealing with them.

Good To Know The Old Man Still Has His Uses.

On service side, you're okay if you can get either Emily but they never seem to be in that much. Mentioned this to Andy yesterday and from now onwards, Louisa over in Mini will look after my BMW servicing/repairs. Booked in for a couple of weeks' time.

Had a 2.0D Auto Cooper for a while a year or so back as a second car, was a smile generator the engine was a little noisy on start up but never intrusive and didn't notice it when moving....the fun outweighed any diesel issues. Much more tractable than the petrol even the Cooper S I had a while back (turbo one).
