Dealership Recommendations
Hey guys,
was wondering if anyone could make recommendations in the NJ/NY area where i could get the best deal on a new car. Was interested in trading in my my 3 series for a X3 or X5, got a new job that requires me to travel a lot, plus with this past winter I am quickly realizing that i need 4 wheel drive. Moved to the West New York, NJ area over a year and a half ago from the SoCal area so any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks again |

Honestly, how much help is this without numbers? Not even necessarily exact, but anything to gauge with. Yea so and so is a good guy, that's fine and dandy, but what the hell's that got to do with dollars? You're gonna end up with 11 dealerships to visit without something more quantifiable than cool bro's.

Thanks for the help guys, RedlinePSI thanks for verbalizing what i was thinking. I didn't want to come across as not being appreciative for all the info, but you're right some numbers would be better. But it's my job to shop all the dealers that you guys are recommending as well. Thanks again

Btw, can anyone from NY or NJ make sense of these costs that are due in the 1st month of a lease? Are these amounts quoted normal or high... + Tax on Cap Red: $70.00 + Doc Fee: $299.00 + Upfront Sales Tax: $918.44 (NJ) + Acquisition Fee: $795.00 + DMV Fees: $313.60

I shopped at JMK BMW. Basically, browse thru the pricing sub-forums and see how much other members have paid. And go to any dealer in NJ and Put your numbers on the table for SA. (Take it or Leave it).
Your only negotiating number is cap cost reduction. Be sure to ask the MF as some deals quote high. The admin(doc, dmv) fee is where they actually make a bit money, and it's standard.

I ended up buying my X3 from Ferman BMW in Tampa Bay, FL why?
Well there were only 2 CPO X3 M-Sport w/ DHP & Premium Sound under 50k (July 2014) and under 15k miles. Also, ended up being I saved about 5-7k buying out of state than locally. Now I want to trade in my X3 28i for a 15' 28D or 35i CPO as well but looks again like all tri-state dealers don't carry DHP + Premium Sound too often, so might have to look into a CPO GLA 45 AMG haha. I recommend looking at carfax.com, bmwusa.com, cars.com, and see what u find.

I had roughly the same experience. I was shopping CPO X5s and continually found better pricing in out of state markets that are less focused on 4wd sales. I ended up buying from BMW of Chattanooga. I sincerely tried buying local, but when Prestige is asking 44k for the exact same year/mileage/packages/color as an X5 in Tennessee offering for 37k, you eat the $300 flight, save the 7k and drive it home. They even picked me up at the airport. Besides, it gave me 10hrs to learn everything about the car on the drive home and treated myself to some Waffle House. |
