CIC reboots every 2 min after taking to shop
Car went in for regular check up. Dropped it off; CIC has no issues. Pick it up, CIC is resetting every 2 minutes. Tech asks if I've ever seen this, and told him no. He said he was having issues resetting the service interval, and when he started it up, the interval reset wasn't sticking. Tried again, and that's when the CIC started to freak out. Anyone else run into this?
He mentioned the FRM (?) is outdated by two versions, but it's been like that. What gives? Taking it back today and having them update whatever it takes until it's all resolved. I also did the CIC reset by holding the mute button for 25 sec. Oh, and I am using an iPod Touch with Y-Cable adapter. iPod is fine. Do the cables go bad? |

There is a watchdog process running on CIC responsible for resetting it if any CIC services got stuck. There is a possibility EEPROM got whipped by accident and you now have to reprogram the CIC. Or it could be a coincidence and some CIC hardware is actually failing.

Thanks for reply. Interesting; hadn't considered it could be stuck in some safe mode loop (unless it really is coincidence the CIC is failing same day it goes to shop). I'll have to see what happens. They said they'd update software and reprogram. Just dropped off the car.

And to correct my earlier post, he didn't specifically say CIC was what he updated, just that he updated the 'screen/display' and amplifier. |

Are you sure the battery is not low.
Are you sure the battery is not low.
Battery run down due to the car staying awake while being worked on . Then the voltage is to low for the electronics to reliably run. Put a full charge the battery to see if it corrects the problem. When they program they are suppose to put the car on a regulated power supply to stop the battery from being drained. Last edited by ctuna; 05-22-2015 at 12:04 AM.. |

Thanks for the responses. The battery is only a year old, and tech mentioned he did charge the battery, and had it on a tender while updating software.
It's going back in today for more updates. I'll see how this goes. |
