Lifeshine
I've bought a new autoglym life shine kit from eBay and waiting for a day to do a deep clean before applying it. Has anyone done one of these (I'm non professional) and got any tips?

It's this kind of thing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTOGLYM-L...item463aed6d80
A lot of main dealers use this as their body protection for new cars, although I think in reality they wipe it down with some crappy Halfords polish then sell the life shine on eBay. It's supposed to be pro application only but there are rafts on the bay! |

My father in law had his Honda protected with it at new and to be fair it has held up very well.
So the kit is literally just the topical application. So, without knowing how experienced you are with detailing, would be to prep the body to the best finish you are capable and prepared enough for. No point in applying a sealant over contaminated paint. So in brief, the usual snow foam, degrease, two bucket wash, fallout removal, clay, and, if able, machine polish to correct holograms and light marring, then panel wipe down to remove any residues from all these previous activities. And then apply the Lifeshine. |

Follow the instructions to the T. Don't think, just be a sheep and read it and do it. You have to maintain it, I still use srp and wax, but don't strip and just clay the car on a deep clean. I think it's great stuff and really helps, also it's not that hard, but you will need a good day to do it. Make sure you car is fully cleaned first. Use HD cleanser from autoglym. Andy |

i've used them in the past myself
not bad for the price from ebay, but no better than any autoglym products off the shelf. for paintwork you'd be much better off buying a proper sealant, nothing autoglym do will last much longer than 3 months.... unless your a hardcore waxer and like to spend 3-4 days a month polishing, and waxing your car to concourse quality... i use the gtechniq stuff as do a few on here... |
