Just had my 3rd oil change at 16000 miles. When I got the car, the interval was at 15K, then the BMW update to 10K, and now after this oil change, the service interval shows 9K till next oil change. Was the service interval shortened again?

I'd guess it's reading 9,000 and will for the next 900+ miles. As soon as you drove off the lot it was under 10k. Changing in 1,000 mile increments.

It'll probably change to 8,000 in 900+ miles.

Mine always reverts to 10K miles after it has been serviced. Perhaps your dealer is resetting it for something else. I know that can be done. My interval is 10K or one year. Do you do a lot of city driving? Third oil change at 16k miles? That's a bit under the recommendation unless your car just hit its second birthday.

I did my own change at 5k and then again at 9K when the indicator said it was near the regular 1 year oil change and then again at 16K- which the computer said I was still 2K away from an oil change but the dealer did it saying it was within the range/interval.

Mostly highway driving. It was set to 10K after the 2nd oil change (when the computer was actually reset). Since the 1st was on my dime, I told them not to rest the computer.
