H&R paired with ?!

Hey guys,

when I bought the car in late 2013 I went for the cheaper option pair of sport H&R's on stock base suspension+wheel spacer+anti-roll bar, I loved how the car felt planted, solid but still didn't lose that much comfort.. anyway I am looking for something now to pair it with these springs. any ideas or experience with certain product appreciated.

I've got Sport Springs + B8s and love the ride.

I found stock to be soft and I wasn't really aware of it. I commute 90 miles a day and have no issues with these. Feedback without being overly harsh/stiff. I did hit a pothole REALLY hard and broke a strut mount but otherwise it recovers nicely over uneven roads. Pothole incident was my fault and I got away with minimal damage actually, given how hard I hit it.

I also had the base 328i suspension and went with HR sport springs, but reused my base OEM dampers. At first, like you said, I liked how it lowered the car but retained a civil relatively soft ride (although I haven't changed any roll bars). BUT after driving with that set up for a few months I noticed that the base dampers were just way to soft to match the shorter suspension travel which caused some bouncing. Nothing terrible, but I got tired of it. I'm half way through putting bilsteins on. Bilstein b8s seem to be the consensus for pairing with lowering springs and retaining a civil ride quality. I regret not just doing this from the get go as now I'm doing all the work over again!

yes exactly I am sick of the bouncy ride, it's much less than stock ride but now ride is stiff not for me for my family and I am looking for a more comfort yet handles better than stock. maybe KW V1 or V2 ?!

Maybe...at least with coilovers you can adjust the ride height and maybe set it higher than where you end up with the HR springs. If I were you I'd look for someone selling a whole "Msport" non-adaptive suspension set up. It won't be as low as HR springs (or setting coilovers low), but the ride quality will most likely be more on the comfort side. I think if you stay with the OEM suspension options you'll be more comfortable for family cruising.

You might want to ditch the aftermarket sway bar, it might be making things a bit firm. give me a shout in a few days, I'll have the fronts done in a day or two and can give you my impression. judging by how the back felt today on the way into work, i think its going to be a huge improvement over the base dampers!
