hello guys.

so the theme for my saph black 335 is to be a stealth monster. basically i am going all black, no silly m badges etc. i have her bookee in to have the lights done on thursday. they are lacquer tinting the rears as dark as they can go without distorting the light too much.

i need some advice with the headlights.. i am thinking a 70% tint. but i am not sure if it will be dark enough to look right. or it could go the otherway and be too dark.... the xenons and angel eyes are plenty powerfull enough to cut through this tint. and there is always room for uprated bulb of needbe. safety always comes first ofcourse.

i know my stealth theme wont be to everyones tastes. but try to see the vision i am going for when answering

edit also i am trying to reduce the angel eye glare that the DRL`s give off. so daytime you will see the 2 rings, but very little of the light behind

Best to ask an MOT tester or traffic cop.

For the rears have you considered darklines, if the worst was to happen they'd be no arguement legality of your tinted rear lights. Plus when you deep the car you can just swap the lights back over and sell the darklines to recoupe some of your £££

hey andy they say the lights need to emit enough light to be clearly visible and illuminate the road ahead. the guy says it can be a problem with older cars and also cars fitted with quite poor lights. he also says with DRL`s you can get away with going darker still. but ultimately yes its down to the tester and the coppers

Nooooooooo, tinted rear lights look crap, especially on black cars!

And as for tinted headlights, unless you're 17 & will be hanging around on Southend seafront, I think you're treading a dangerous path my pedigree chum!

im with you teaston, i really am. but it is a necessity to achieve the look. the lacquer tint isnt like film tinting which can look dull and almost matt looking.

the lacquer has a really nice shine with a hint of red in it.

something needs to be done the red lights are just too damn red!

I'm really not a fan of tinted lights. Like others, I'm with teaston.

Im sure I'm not the only one that makes general assumptions about the driver when I see cars with blacked out lights, ultra dark tints etc.

Re the headlights.....they're to help you see at night....surely you want the best visibility that is possible.....why you would want to tint them and reduce their impact is beyond me......stealth look or otherwise

Garage List
Can understand the tinted rear lights- even did it myself back in the day.

But the front lights not a fan of that.

I'm of the as much light and hence safety on the road as you can that's why I upgraded my xenons.

As a thought if you really want to tint your front lights may I suggest you try putting a piece of tinting film over the headlights before you do a permanent tint. Remember it's not just what you can see but how much you can be seen.

Worst case scenario think blacked out youth in his corsa on a foggy night pulling out in front of you !!!

I agree, that just screams Chav! Might as well attach huge neon lights to the car that say "Chav onboard"
