Crackdown on Mobile Phones used by drivers
There is currently a large crackdown in the West Midlands area with knob heads using mobile phones while driving / in control of a vehicle.
http://www.signal107.co.uk/news/loca...-in-west-mids/ This includes holding a mobile to check navigation etc. Also elsewhere, Cambridgeshire Police are cracking down on rubber necking mobile users. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-32912676 So don't even be tempted to check that mobile in the car, you never know who is watching!! |

Its a shame Vodafone does not support hands free car kits anymore, They no longer have them on their portfolio. I worked in the cellular car kit market for 27 years.

Car right up my ar*e tonight as I tried to pull in to my drive. Took a look at who it was to see a woman holding phone in her left hand and reaching not across with her right hand to change gear. Madness.

Tradesmen are probably the worst from what I have seen. They seem to have more cause between jobs, perhaps. My offices are opposite warehouses and the amount of lorry drivers (HGV) that come in on their phones is appalling. West Midlands are onto it though and there are unmarked HGVs out to deal with them, mostly for motorway work. But either way, too many people think it's acceptable to not be fully concentrating and not in control. And Nick, you are wrong. 'Castration' is the word you were looking for for these inconsiderate, selfish arrogant pricks. It's always these type of people, the drunk drivers, the drug drivers, who ruin people's lives and yet walk away. |

Yes van drivers etc are high numbers. Just I have noticed a high number of mobile phone users in cars that should or do come with BT. |

Or the second hand market wannabes who are basically just selfish Basically both categories don't care about the mayhem chaos and loss that they can cause. Do see a lot of trades on their mobiles as well. Sad when you consider how relatively cheap blue tooths are.

I'm all for this. I nearly missed out on getting the 330 thanks to some bimbo using her phone while driving in the snow. I stopped, she didn't. Thankfully not too much damage to the Audi but had to get it sorted before trading in. 3 weeks before pickup so I was not impressed.

Indeed.
Especially by drivers in audis and BMW's etc. to me it screams 'I'm too cheap to get Bluetooth or too lazy to actually sync it to my car' in which case we should not just throw, but indeed launch, and launch many many books, in their direction. |

Time they cracked down more on phone use while driving i was hit on my motorbike by a woman who was so busy on her phone she didnt bother to look at a t junction and just pulled out right in front of me even though my bike was bright red and so were my leathers and i had my headlights on .
Her punishment a two day driving course with the police cost her £70 a day me i lost my left leg so seeing people actually get caught using the phone makes me happy .

Well you stop the car and get out your map. Alternatively, you drive around looking at your phone, possibly killing innocent bystanders, other motorists. Or you look at the map function of the sat back and work out your route. If a person has to rely purely on sat nav, they should hand over the keys as being incompetent. Admittedly, it appears life comes cheap across the Pond. Not using a mobile while driving has been law for 10 years and is getting to be one of main factors in accidents and deaths. We also have this law that motorbike users wear crash helmets...... However, we are just 'ex' Imperialists, what do we know. |

+1 Otherwise known as common sense I think. However my sat nav has never got me lost, ever, and I could punch in 5-10 post codes a day when out and about for work. Andy |
