About to "spring" for Dinan Shockware for F22 (228i M Sport THP)

I am pretty thrilled that this is available for the 228i (with adaptive suspension).

I would appreciate comments from anyone else who has done this, especially to an F22. Meanwhile could someone with more knowledge than I have please weigh in on the following:

- Is it reversible in the very unlikely event that I want to return to stock?

- Is there any danger that it might get wiped or overwritten during a standard service at my BMW service center? I intend to do the Dinan upload at a specialist shop.

- Will my wife protest that that new Comfort mode ride is too harsh? This is NOT a deal-breaker.

- Will it mess with EcoPro mode when I want to use it to save fuel in very heavy Los Angeles traffic.

- Is there any disadvantage to doing this very early in the life of the car? At ~850 miles I am still trying to stay below 4000 RPM until 1200 miles.

Thanks very much in anticipation.

My bad, spoke too soon I guess. Odd that they have it available for the 228 but not the M235i....

Yes, I checked that out, plus another thread linked within that one. Response to the Shockware upgrade seems pretty positive but obviously F22 owners with it are a bit thin on the ground at this point.

Yup, odd but good for those of us with the not-so-humble 228i with the THP.

Yes, you'll probably have to pay the shop for an hour to reflash your car.

This I don't know for sure, although I would suspect not. The damper software is on its own ECU, not on the cars main DME, so unless they have to specifically update that ECU software (unlikely) it should not be an issue. But you might want to ask Dinan or the shop about this to confirm.

Is she ok with the stock sport mode? I'd expect that Dinan's comfort mode ride won't be much worse than that, and I would hope it's actually better.

It will have whatever Dinan's comfort mode is for the damper setting, but it will not affect the drivetrain settings, so you'll still get the ECO throttle and engine maps.

None at all.
