I've gotten custom wheels from eBay sellers tainik and 007-skyfall that have both perforated leather and the tri-colored stitching... pretty awesome, check it out

Sorry, haven't used either, but for whatever it's worth, I'd probably vote for the M3 wheel. I worry about keeping the perforations clean on the m-sport wheel (and I'm not crazy about how they did that one with part perforated leather and part smooth).
I'd consider replacing my wheel but I don't want to lose the heated steering wheel feature and I'm not sure how easy it is to get a replacement that still has that.

I've driven both and I prefer the msport wheel. Currently have it in my e90 right now and the perf sections are a nice contrast to the smooth Napa sections at 12 and 6. Paddles are a perfect fit as well.
As someone noted though, it does take a little extra effort to keep it clean compared to them m3 wheel. |

I love my M3 wheel. The feel is like butter. Leather is the same on my zsp shift knob. Thicker, attractive, durable, etc. Highly recommended. I got the Alcantara trim to be a Lil different. Love that too. Feels like a new car with the new wheel.

I currently have the m3 wheel, but I've used the m-tech wheel as well and I feel like m3 wheel is a little bit plushier than the m-tech. However after feeling the alcantara performance wheel in my buddies m3, I'll probably be picking up one of those for myself!

The Alcantara performance wheels don't wear as well according to a performance shop I know. I do know they hold every bit of dust dirt and grime and require a lot more maintenance to keep looking new. I was going to get the blue stripe one but passed.

I have a Montego blue e90 as well which I installed a Msport steering wheel. Personally I love the way it feels. Its much thicker compared to the sports wheel and has better grip marks on 10 and 2 o'clock. The perforated leather is a good detail/texture to have and you also have supple leather on the top and bottom part of the wheel (I think its the same leather as the M3 wheel). My wheel has virtually no wear at all despite 25000 mile of usage. Either way both of those wheels are a great upgrade compared to the Sports.

I have switched to the M3 wheel from the MSport that comes with the 335is - after soldering resistors to adapt to the M3 paddles, it was the best decision I have made for the BMW.

I have the M3 wheel (non-perforated) with DCT paddles in my 2008.
The perforated wheel is the same. It's looks only.

Haven't used the M-sport wheel, but I refurb'd an M3 wheel that I pulled out of a junkyard and it's a 1000x improvement over stock.

They will work but they don't fit in the space exactly perfect. I had my LCI paddles in for about a month before putting the resistors in the m3 paddles. You would really have to look closely to see that it is not a perfect fit but no one would even notice until you told them.
