Guess I am Getting a 2016!

I Went into the dealership on Saturday and spec'ed out a 2015 M235i. I guess between then and now while I was waiting for my credit to clear they stopped making 2015's and are on to 16's

Looks like I will be rolling in a 2016 M235i in a month or 2. What an upgrade it will be from my 2005 Toyota Corolla!

Anyone else order a 16 yet?

2 months from now seems ambitious. Production doesn't start until 7/15, say 2 weeks for production. The soonest a 16 can ship is about 1st week in august. 6 weeks on a boat, puts you at middle of September for a 16.

I'm in the middle of buying and may get one of the last 15s. Production is second week of June with estimated delivery end of July to August. I was told September for 2016 delivery.

So far i cant see any difference getting a 2015 vs early 2016 but does anyone know any advantages or disadvantages between the two?

I ordered my 2013 335i in late June for 1st production run of 2013 335i Msports. It arrived and ready for pick up at the end of August.
Production started in early July. I am in the Chicago area.
8 weeks was a pretty good estimate as it came fairly early.

I think east coast and central US cars may come a bit quicker as it takes longer to get to the west coast area.

Higher resale on the 2016.

Also essentially comes with the premium package as a standard minus the leather, but bar cost is about 1000 higher.

Also I was getting excited to buy some stuff from RW carbon. I hope the figment is the same as 2014 and 2015. Does anyone know that?

Also would the dinan tune still work because it is the same engine and software I think?

Huh? Last year we ordered a 2015 528i. From the deposit to delivery it only took 5-6 weeks. Why does it take so long to get a 2?

There's a thread with the 2016 ordering guide here:

I plan to lease so resale is less important and if i planned to get leather plus premium pack, the 2016 does cost more at $(1000+1450) vs $2150. It's a toss up really.

I'm picking mine up at the factory. I timed it such that I am getting one of the last 15s before they shut down the factory for a month or two for vacation and retooling the factory for the 16s My pickup day is July 8th. I think it'll be mid August before they even start building any 2016 models

The factory shut down is more like 2 weeks rather than 2 months.

They'll be building 2016s in both July and August, with the earliest deliveries probably in mid- to late August.

I don't remember the exact build date of my 2014, but I ordered it the last week of May, and it was built sometime in the first two weeks of June. I.e., at this moment, they are still building 2015s, but it could be that their orders are filled and that's why you couldn't get yours ordered in time. Last year, if I had waited, I would have gotten a 2015 delivered at the end of August, so count on an extra month of waiting. FWIW, I think as a package, you're getting a better deal on the 2016 anyway. Enjoy.

Thanks all. I think I made out better in the end anyways. I guess some extra time is just more time for a larger down payment.

Tracking it from order to delivery is both really exciting and at times painful. Your instant gratification is put off for a while, but it's awesome knowing you got the exact car you wanted.

+1 They don't give their factory employees a two month vacation. They all take a two week summer vacation in August. I believe they change the tools in a matter of days and start the 2016 production quickly. Vehicles can be completed within a week. An August delivery to the east coast for a 2016 is not outside the realm of possibility. The determining factor is what production slots your dealer has, as each allocation is tied to a production week.

you also get the alarm in 2016. On 2015s it was always a separate option.

IDK how much you value that, but it accounts for most of the cost difference between 2015s and 2016s.

It doesn't seem like a real price increase when they added features.

For reference, I have been confirmed for Welt pickup of a 2016 for 8/21. Started the order process in early February, it has been a long wait.

For more reference, the shutdown is a factory shutdown. The welt and the museum are still open, unless it's a holiday.

it doesn't make any sense to get a 2015 now unless you get A HELL of a deal. 2016 are just around the corner.

Just my 2 cents.
