M sport questions

I had a couple of questions re: the M sport package. Sorry that these are newbie questions.

1. Is there an M sport steering wheel that is HEATED if you order the M Sport Package with the Cold Weather Package?

2. Does anyone know what the blue seats are in this car:
http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1133756

Thanks!

On the left side of the steering column hidden from view you have to feel for it....the indicator light is on the button as well which you can't see..but I think an indicator light was added to the dashboard after 2014 but I could be wrong.

Those seats are the best seats offered by BMW in the 2. HOWEVER they are NOT available to be ordered in the US.

They are cloth, or more specifically Alcantra. A synthetic swede like material which I had in my IS300 and they were amazing. Comfortable, cool, warm, and hold you in place better than any leather can.

It's baffling to me, too. This has been talked about many times, but it's really hard to believe that the take rate in the U.S. wouldn't justify its offering. Most on this forum love the Alcantara. Pisses me off.

I'm lucky to have those seats in my M235i; they really are awesome. Had dakota seats in my F10 - nice smell of the leather is the only thing I miss now. And indeed: the amount of grip they offer holds you in place, while I used to slide my ass down during long trips on dakota seats; it was slow but constant - the best proof being my rear view mirror starting to show less and less of the road behind me the more I sled down (and forward of course)... Yes I'm aware of the possibility to tilt the seat so that your bottom is lower than you knees, but somehow this position was bad for my back. No such problems with the current alcantara seats - plus they will never go as hot as the black leather could (and did)!

Correct. I have a 2014 M235i w/ cold weather package and when you press the button to turn on the heated steering wheel there is no indicator light that goes on in dash gauges which is a little weird that you wouldn't let the driver know that its on or not....

Yeah they fixed that on 2015 MY, they have some text that shows the warmers are on, on the cluster.

Correct - but the displays disappears after several seconds (supposedly because after that time your hands should already feel the heat, thus becoming your actual ON indicator)...

The reality is forum folk are a small sub-demographic of enthusiast - and in the USA most people would have a hard time spending $35-55,000 for a car with "cloth" seats in a "premium" car.

M3 owners get the same complaints, but I don't think anyone has purchased a different car because they couldn't get the cloth seats, so I think BMW was fair in their decision to not offer them as an additional option even if a select few dislike it.

Alcantara is very different from cloth, though. Plenty of upmarket cars use Alcantara (as do high-end furniture companies like Ligne Roset).
