second track outing ...

my second outing with the car was fantastic… It was damp on the track Thursday and I drove my Nitto NT01s… Day two was much more wet and I had my pilot super sports on for the whole day (as well as MDM despite having Lockton insurance).

The car drove fantastic and the problems I was having with the brakes before (at a different track which was new to me) were probably my fault for having too long of braking zones… this weekend was a track I am more familiar with and was able to push it very hard and keep the pedal firm.

I had a really good time chasing/leading a jaguar F type S (V8) around the track as we were both very similar in lap times including the straightaway up through 150+ miles per hour… unfortunately I did not have the microphone turned on for my external mic on the go Pro… That sucks because there would have been some great footage.

Excellent weekend. I had a drivetrain malfunction that appeared when I was driving off the track for a session after turning the car off and back on immediately disappeared and has not returned multiple sessions later (and after returning home). The car ran a little rough as I pulled into the Paddock but ran fine afterwards. I was also losing wheel center caps left and right both the stickers were coming off and the entire was popping off on some wheels LOL.

successful weekend! (photos of me on track taken by a friend in the PCA club)

not low on fuel .. above 1/2 tank of i remember correctly ... with the heavy rain I was using far less fuel.

engine is 100% ... you bet. read around a little and I saw there may be a service update for it. also saw some stuff saying it may be related to the fuel. it seemed just fine on track... as I was pitting it came on. I parked and noticed it running just slightly rough. I turned off and waited only a minute or couple then fired it back up. never heard from it again and the engine was smooth as silk. *shrug*

it has not showed up again so I have not really pursued it? I do believe there was something posted for a software update but I have not had a chance to investigate that with BMW

I had DSC/tc off for most sessions when I was square. this code actually came up when I was on the stock 19s .. I can't remember if I was in MDM or all off.. it went from damp to pouring rain so I was bouncing around some ...

Just to clarify a Drivetrain Malfunction is engine related and would have nothing to do with MDM/DSC/Etc. Most likely the car just had a few misfires and that is what threw the code. If restarting the engine solved the problem I certainly would not worry about it. I've had the drivetrain malfunction pop up more times than I can count lol.
