F36 help....
Hello all
Just picked up a new F36 GC 428i and very pleased with it coming from a 5 series which was just too big and cumbersome. Got a couple of questions which may well get answered faster here than through the dealer.... Are the instrument dials (speedo, rev counter etc) back lit with the headlamps off i.e. normal daytime driving? If yes where in the menus can I increase the brightness as they are very washed out and flat at the moment? 2. When you go into settings and driving modes I can adjust the eco pro settings, when I click into sport mode the chassis, drive train etc are all there but in red and I can not adjust them? Any idea why not as I believe I should be able to? The only reason I can think is that after a certain number of miles this will become active????? Thanks |

1. I think this is operated from the iDrive? Can't remember where exactly but I'll try and remember to have a look for you later.
2. I never had the option to change these settings in my F20 116d Sport but in this 435i M Sport, I could select them from the start. So not sure what the reasoning behind that is?

No.1 : I thought the same and had a look through the drive menus, but couldn't see anything, so would love to know if it is possible. A sunny day makes the instruments almost unreadable to my old eyes!
No.2 : I'll have a look at mine later! |

In regards to #2, I believe only configurable if you have Adaptive Suspension.

Thanks all....
I have heard back from the dealer! No backlighting on the dials with the headlights off! On the issue of the sports mode it is factory set and I am unable to change it (I do have the adaptive suspension)... That aside love the car |

So did I but I definitely can't - I do have the BMW tow bar though so that may have something to do with it?
Either way I would love to know if someone definitely can change the settings? : |

Same in the 428 - just can't change anything....
Always set the lights to auto just after some backlighting on the dials like the 5 series Not to worry - 4 GC much more fun than the 5 to drive |

The backlighting on the dials only comes on when the light sensor turns on the headlights when the auto setting is selected for the lights - just like the E90.
The chassis settings on adaptive are what your screen is showing you. So that for Sport mode you can select is drivetrain (more aggressive throttle mapping) and chassis (sport adaptive mode with tougher limits for damping), or drivetrain (throttle mapping only - but suspension in comfort) or chassis - (adaptive sport suspension with tougher damping but no increase in throttle mapping). |
