windshield washer+open moon roof=not good

Title summarizes it pretty well. Never had this issue with my GTI, presumably because the front window is much more verticle. I was stopped at a light, hit the windshield washer, and quite a bit of the fluid came through the moon roof. I was lucky for two reasons:
1) about half of the fluid ended up on me
2) i had JUST put a micro fiber cloth in my glovebox two days earlier, so I could clean it up very rapidly.

Am I the only fool that has made this mistake? I don't recall seeing a warning in the manual.

This problem isn't bad for me unless it's windy.

My HUGE problem is when I have the windows down and I just want to clean the windshield and the headlight washers spray fluid all over me.

It's worse when you're on the highway (with the top down) and you get hit with spray from the guy in front of you cleaning his windshield.

well. like i said, it wasn't an issue with the GTI. and to be fair, the manual has some pretty obvious stuff. e.g.,

Danger of pinching
Before folding down the rear seat backrests,
ensure that the area of movement of the
backrests is clear. In particular, ensure that no
one is located in or reaches into the area of
movement of the rear seat backrests when the
middle section is folded down. Otherwise, injury
or damage may result.

I would bet that's the difference. Being sprayed with washer fluid isn't exactly injury or damage. (besides maybe ego )

Just put the headlight switch to the off position before pressing the washer, then you can put the headlight switch back to auto...

washer only works on auto or on position

If it wasnt an issue with VW then their jets were simply aimed lower. Common sense......................

Or a sign that says, "Don't p*ss into the wind."

So-to-speak.
