///M Performance Brakes HELP!! ~Gran Coupe (not much) content~

Hey gents!

I'm looking at the ///M Performance brakes for my F36 428ix (X-drive), but noticed a qualifier that shouldn't be a deal breaker, but I'm hoping someone can verify before I invest the money.

The paragraph below was taken from BMWNA's website and claims that my car would have needed to come with M-Sport brakes (2NH). I'm hoping this is nothing more than a coding issue, as my car came with non-sport brakes. Does anyone have experience with these, or any additional insight?

"The BMW M Performance sports brake system is only approved in combination with at least 18" aluminum wheels. Front discs are used only in conjunction with M Sport Brakes (option 2NH). Rear Brake Discs are applicable to both the BMW M Performance Brake System and M Sport Brakes (2NH). Consult your BMW center for more details."

Thanks for the help, guys! The GC needs new shoes!

-Mike

Turner motorsports has a page which describes the differences between the various brake packages .
There is also a very complete spreadsheet posted by "Ocean"? further down the first forum page .
You likely have the same brakes as my wifes 320ix. 312 mm front rotors and 300 mm rears. single piston floating calipers.
One upgrade package (2NH) uses either340 or 370 mm fronts depending on engine with 345 mm rears so that difference is likely what they are referring to. The available parts dept M perf upgrade kit comes with the 370 rotors
The 370 rotors need at least 18 in for clearance ,the 340 fronts will clear with 17 in wheels.

Also seeing as you have an xdrive You can upgrade to 335i brakes at considerably less expense than the full sport/performance kit.
I just changed my wifes 320ix over.
The 335i uses the same 4 piston front Brembo calipers and pads along with smooth (not drilled and grooved rotors 340x30 mm up from your 312x24 existing rotors.
At the back the 335i uses a 330x20 mm rotor and a single piston caliper. similar to what you have but 30 mm bigger dia. (330x20 instead of 300x20)
These are a direct bolt on to an xdrive car and are available used for much less than the full Performance brake kit.
Paint them any colour you want or leave them the stock gray.
