Everyone make it through the ice okay?
My drive home yesterday normally takes 35 minutes, and it took 1hr 15min. I saw at least 8-10 cars wrecked on the way -- one of them was a 5 or 6 car crash on the toll road. About half of those cars were wrecked into each other, the other half spun out and into the median. Cops were already there and the left lane was blocked. It made for a really, really slow commute. I may head out early today.
I made it home fine. The Dunlop M3s work great in cold, wet conditions, but with the ice, things can be a bit random. Everyone else okay? I know some of you don't have winter tires.

I have to drive mine daily. Thank god I have an xi. It performs wonderfully on slick roads. I always feel confident, albiet I am a very very cautious driver in bad weather...I am glad no one here has reported any accidents!!

Worst commute ever
What would normally take 35 minutes took just about 2 hours. I was stuck on 123 heading towards Tysons for the longest time. To make matters worst, I was running on fumes. So it was very stressful. All throughout the commute I was trying to avoid the salt truck (in the queue) who seem to have an evil habit of peppering salt only in close proximity of nice cars I made it to the gas station with less than half a gallon left in the tank, the last 40 minutes of the commute, the DTE was in the single digits When I got home the side streets had not been treated. I had some trouble pulling into my driveway, I tried coming straight in and backing up. Even with DTC and Blizzaks The car would just want to slide off my driveway My next door neighbor fared worst in her E-class, she ran into her thrash can and bumped into her car parked in her driveway I had some problems earlier on leaving my office building, when I had to engage DTC to make it up my garage parking ramp. I wonder how worst off I would've been with the blizzaks, still not sure I'm getting all the benefits I expect.

Last night before heading home. Car looked like a sculpted ice art piece.
Took it easy on my summer tires as well. I refuse to get snow tires!

I received a text from iatacs19 yesterday, he is well...
His commute was equally as treacherous, he noted he fishtailed twice at one point, he was riding on PS2s.

Donny - your driveway sounds a lot like how mine was. The street was okay, the driveway was a sheet of ice. I almost broke my neck walking in from my car.
Looks like Robert Gates, the Secretary of Defense, did the same. Ended up breaking his shoulder on the ice yesterday: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/02/13/gates.arm/

Pansies live in Cali because they can't adapt to the temperate climates of the Mid Atlantic. I wake up and go get my newspaper in my boxers when it's snowing outside!
