Squeaking noise after spring install

Recently installed H&R Sport springs, started having a squeaking noise coming from the front driver side...thought it was the headlight level sensor plastic arm that we broke during removal that we quick fixed with safety wire until the new sensor came in....replaced the sensor...still having that annoying squeaking sound....happens at low speeds when driving on rough roads or speed bumps...double checked that everything was tight when we installed the new sensor...no idea where its coming from....Thoughts?

It's your bump stop. I cut mine off. No problem and noise gone. Alternatively to cutting it off, lube it.

Will have to try this, as mine has a minor squeak as well. Anyone else notice a strut begin to leak after putting the HR springs on?

BMW replaced the strut under warranty with the new springs on it?

I think some people are still having issues with the H&R springs. I have a set, and haven't had a problem (yet, fingers crossed), but it seems sporadic. Some people have huge problems, others don't.

This is not an isolated incident it seems. Other lowered Fxx cars such as M3s and 435s are getting the squeaking, as well, from one or both fronts from lowering spring installs. Alot of it is simply crooked boot re-installs that rub on the top with the springs on turn-in and need to be adjusted and oiled. Others seem to be bump stop squeaks and I've also read some wheels are getting the sounds from not being torqued enough to 105lbs.

Copying from another thread so owners are aware of one experience, this is obviously anecdotal.

I have switched back to the OEM springs after being on the HR springs / stock struts for about 8 months. Why? Three of the four struts are now leaking and no longer extend under no load (when off of the vehicle). After contacting HR, they reported their warranty only covers the springs, not the application to any vehicle.

Obviously not everyone is having this experience, most are doing fine. However, some should be aware that the 2 series suspension is smaller and more delicate than previous BMWs. I had purchased Koni's as a solution (wrong parts), and they were easily 40% larger in diameter than the stock M235 struts. The M235 was never meant to go outside of its OEM tolerances.

Recommendation: Be aware if you go springs only, but I would recommend going coils if you really need to be lower / more firm. The EDC can be coded out, you don't need the EDC modules - just talk to Pikachu on the coding forums here.

Anyone having issues on a non daily M235 such as myself? IM at 4,000 miles with HR springs but I only drive the car on the weekends for the most part and don't do any tracking or hardcore flogging on the suspension IMO. Im keeping my fingers crossed as well once I take the car in for its dealer 5000 miles requirement.... Might take it to my other BMW guy and see if he can put her on the lift and see how its looking. hate seeing threads like this definitely worries me but I guess worst case scenario Ill be tossing back on my stock springs if any issues and going to dealer for warranty lol.....

Like I said, a possibly quick solution, if you're worried, is to cut or replace your bumpstops to allow more shock travel.
